I bought a 45 of "Dead mans Curve" by Jan & Dean at a garage sale in 79 after seeing them on a TV movie. That song rocks! I wonder if I still have it, I still have all my Records.

Sadly, I've never heard this song, but the people in the office here tell me it's pretty good.

SO, what song was topping the Billboards when YOU were born?
People in your office must have been in high school when you were born because that song sucks and only the ignorance/emotional connectivity of a high school hump session could possibly be the basis of their postulation.

It's probably Bon jovi, but they got the title wrong. the Aerosmith song came out in the early 90's

Funny thing is there were way better songs being played than the one that got picked.

Most #1's usually don't stand the test of time. Of all the songs listed in this thread, only a handful are classics that have held up...much of the rest are disposable one shots, novelity tunes, etc. Just more evidence that the charts never indicated what was the "best", just what was the most popular and that was, more often than not, the lowest common denominator.

I just did this with the month of may for the year I graduated 1985. Wish I could say I remember the song or maybe its better I don't-"Everything She Wants" by Wham?

I was going to start a new thread with the link to that page, but apparently thats beyond my skill level.

It's a typical made-for-radio 80's song. Take it for what that's worth...

I loved the 80's, but the cheese factor was still up there...

Uh huh huh...
Oh yeah...
Work...work...

Somebody told me,
Boy, everything she wants is everything she sees...
I guess I must have loved you.
’cause I said you were the perfect girl for me,
Maybe...
But now we’re six months older...
And everything you want and everything you see,
Is out of reach...not good enough...
I don’t know what the hell you want from me but boy...

Uh huh huh...
Oh...oh...
Uh huh huh...
Doo doo doo...
La la la la...

Somebody tell me,
Won’t you tell me...
Why I work so hard for you?
All to give you money
All to give you money...

Some people work for a living,
Some people work for fun,
Girl, I just work for you.
They told me marriage was a give and take,
Well, show me you can take you’ve got some giving to do.
And now you tell me that you’re having my baby,
I’ll tell you that I’m happy if you want me to...
One step further and my back will break,
If my best isn’t good enough
Than how can it be good enough for two?
I can’t work any harder than I do...

Somebody tell me,
Won’t you tell me...
Why I work so hard for you?
All to give you money,
All to give you money...

Oh...
Why do I do the things I do?
I’d tell you if I knew.
My god...
I don’t even think that I love you....
Won’t you tell me...
Tell me...tell me...tell me...

How could you settle for a boy like me,
When all I could see was the end of the week...
All the things we sign,
And the things we buy,
Ain’t gonna keep us together...
It’s just a matter of time.

My situation,
Never changes.
Walking in that manner through that door,
Like a stranger,
But the wages...
I give you all you say you want is love...

And all I can see is the end of the week,
All the things we sign,
And the things we buy,
Ain’t gonna keep us together...
Girl, it’s just a matter of time.
