Default Olbermann proves the obvious

Keith Olbermann just made everyone's job easier. From now on, it will be easier to criticize the administration on television. It will be easier for liberals to get hired in the media. It will be easier for television executives to make programming decisions. And, most importantly, it will be easier to get the truth to the American people.

For some time now, I have been saying that TV execs are crazy not to put counter-programming on cable news by putting a liberal alternative to the countless conservative talk shows on television. This is especially true when most of the country can't stand this Republican President.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if the President has approval ratings in the 30's, that perhaps people would watch a show that takes the opposite side as the President. Fox News created an empire by opposing a president, and Clinton was a much more popular leader.

It might not take a genius to figure this out, and thank God because TV programmers are no geniuses. But one thing they do exceedingly well is - copy what works.

MSNBC's Olbermann Beats CNN's Zahn & HLN's Grace

In the first quarter of 2006, MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann beat CNN's Paula Zahn Now in the 25-54 demographic. "This marks MSNBC's first quarterly primetime victory over CNN in the demo in almost five years (2Q01 MSNBC Investigates beat CNN at 8 p.m. ET)," MSNBC's press release said today.

Gallup: More Americans Now Call Themselves Democrats

Gallup: In Shift, More Americans Now Call Themselves Democrats

By E&P Staff

Published: March 29, 2006 12:15 PM ET

NEW YORK In a (perhaps) historic shift, more Americans now consider themselves Democrats than Republicans, the Gallup organization revealed today.

...This shift indicates, Gallup says, why its polls show Democrats leading in this year's congressional races.

It's too embarrassing to call yourself a Republican - unless you're dumber than a box of rocks.

Why didn't you copy the whole article??

I love Olbermann and this article was right on.

Quote:
Olbermann isn't anyone's definition of a flaming liberal. He's just a reasonable voice of opposition to the insanity and incompetence of this administration. He doesn't make a big point about being a Democrat or a liberal (to my knowledge, he doesn't make this point at all, partly because it might not be true). From time to time he takes on the administration and the conservative talk show hosts. And he does so with increasing fervor.

And, will you look at that? What do we see now, but much, much better ratings? His ratings have gone up 41% in the last year while O'Reilly's have gone down 24%. And he has just passed the insipid Paula Zahn. By the way, when's the last time someone said, "Hey, did you hear what Paula Zahn had to say?!"
I also like Lou Dobbs but he can't hold Olbermann's jock

Lou Dobbs has been saying a lot of the right things about the bush crime family lately. I watched part of his program on illegal immigration today, and I was applauding during some parts.

fine, let me clarify. olberman is ratings poison. a ratings boost of even 100% of crap, is well, crap. if he was any good he would be on a network that people actually watch.

whining about o reilly, what a way to widen your horizon. can i get a cable news gig whining about michael moore or al franken?

sorry if i confused cnbc with msnbc. i dont watch them and apparently only a few hundred thousand lefties do.
p.s. hows air america doing in the free market?

Well, if Olberman is on a "crap Station" as you say but gets good ratings well, that would make him extra good wouldn't it??

I mean just think if he was on a really good news station like Fox News?? WOW, his ratings would be through the roof!!

Since you say that you don't watch his show or the network I would think that would rule out anything you have to say and we should just just chalk it up as blind allegiance to the fox network and to the republican party.

Olberman lost me LONG ago, like before his 2nd espn try. he was just way too full of himself for not having much to show for himself but a little sports show.

and as i said his ratings show only a few hundred thousand veiwers.

Yeh, Servo. You don't like him like we do? Fine.

But you gotta admit - at the very least - that he's one witty bastard, and his ratings are passing CNN and closing on O'Reilly.

And BTW - he doesn't talk THAT MUCH about O'Reilly. He really only started in full force after O'Reilly started his "online petition" for MSNBC to bring back Phil Donohue (Keith's predecessor).

O'Reilly needs psycho-therapy, he really, really does.
