Lets not forget that the super bowl head referee only overturned 23% of the challenges issued this season. Its all coming together.......

it's amazing that something could be so clear, yet not overturned.

Peter King was telling Espn today that it was the right call. Evidently the officials were instructed to call that on both sides of the ball. This is probably why Denver got that call in the Pats game as well.

And I seen that one as him scoring (ball touching plane about 2.5 ft above the ground).

Thats what a lot of people dont want to discuss. You dont have to break the plane of the goaline just on the ground. People also forget that the ruling on the field was a TD and they had to have conclusive evidence that he never crossed the plane of the goaline. Essentially the same thing happened with Champ when he got hit by Watson on the INT return. it was initially called out of bounds at the one so it was up to replay to disprove that which it couldnt. Had the call been a Touchback chances are the Pats would of gotten the ball as it was really inconclusive.

people see different on that, thats for sure

I just wish the ref came out and said , "we dont have comclusive evidence". To call it a TD like he did just isnt right becasue it was impossible to see where the ball was imo.

All they ever show is a back angle that scews the actual spot. it's over, but when you get the front angle that shows the ball from the proper perspective, it's obvious.

He didn't reach the ball out for some reason I can't understand. The ball was on his hip and wound up about 4 inches short. Who cares.

This was from a fan on ESPN:

Quote:
I'd have to say the perfect image from Super Bowl XL was the ref running in to spot the ball on Big Ben's sneak at the goal line, then inexplicably calling it a touchdown halfway there, after Ben had scooted the ball over the line. I didn't think NFL refs actually fell for that.
JT (Cleveland)
That was the problem I had with it as well. The ref came running in with ONE arm in the air, which indicates he's going to spot the ball. Then he suddenly changed his mind and called TD.

Actually, he should of just said "There is not enough evidence to overturn the call. The play stands as called." He should have never said anything about a TD or touchdown.

That's what set me off. The sideline judge comes running in indicating the spot at the inch line. The changes his mind, after Ben move the ball, and calls TD.

The NFL can try and deflect all they want. This years playoff officiating was crap. The NFL needs to make these guys acountable (like the NCAA did with the refs that called the tech foul on the Florida state hoops player) or use technology to determine TD's more clearly.

Tennis use's technology to determine if the ball is in or out. Mainly due to poor official's changing the game.

I don't care what sport it is. When the officials get more camera time and are involved in the game more it ruins the sport.

The ruling on the field was 4th down, then the buzzer in the refs pocket went off and he put his other hand up for the TD. I swear, that's what happened

The refs screwed the Seahawks over, but not on that PI call. Would the WR have to knock the guy down for it to be a right call? The guy puts his hand dead in the DB's chest, then fully extends his arm. How is that not a push off? If that's not a push off, then there is no such thing as a push off, and offensive PI should never be called.

The WR can't do that, especially right in front of the ref.

The NCAA only acted because they're tired of all the whining about Duke from the other ACC coaches.
