Default What are you cooking for the superbowl?

I got a twelve pack of Newcastle Brown Ale left from my birthday. Somebody gave me a little keg of Heniken that’s wrecked my diet, so I got the ale left. Prolly get a sixer of corona to add in.

Appetizers:

Tomatillo Salsa (salsa verde for you habla folks) and chips.

A pound or pound and a half of tomatillos husked. Blanch them in boiling water. Put in blender or food processor. Puree em. Dump the stuff in a bowl. Add a cup of diced white onions. Juice of two limes. Pinch salt.

Crabbies (I like the name cause I did “teeny weenies” for our birthday party last weekend that had some of the same people that’ll come for the superbowl. Actually we have some crab frozen that’s left from the holidays, and we want to use it up.)

The kids can nuke some generic velveta and rotel too.

Chicken Nachos

http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/reci..._25806,00.html

Rather than a whole chicken, I’m gonna get some bone in breasts that are on sale. Marinate them in lime, brown sugar and cilantro for an hour or two, and bake them with a little chili powder sprinkled on them, and then chunk up the chicken for the nachos rather than shredding it.

I originally wanted to make a pot of beanless chili, but Mrs. Dog liked the nacho idea better. I’m torn cause I really wanted to make chili con queso. The chicken nachos have that nice tomatillo sauce that looks a lot lighter than chili con queso, cause the tomatillo sauce has a chicken stock base, rather than the heavy cream of the chili con queso. I want both, but we’ll only have 4-6 adults and two girls, one in 7th and one in 5th.

One of the people coming is bringing desert.

Not sure as of yet. I've been eating fish, rice, and fruit for the last two weeks while I was on my trip. I'm ready for some BBQ of any kind. Who's throwing the SB party in Denver?

Lets see...for x-mas got a 24 pack of fat tire (can't get it here in Oklahoma). Got two 12 packs of fat tire for my birthday on sunday. So I've got a lot of beer to drink...so much for my diet.

NewCastle is my favorite beer I can get here in Oklahoma.

The morons at the capital decided to pass a law that you can't bring in beer that is chilled apparently (or pasteurized). Oklahoma is a stupid state with a bunch of stupid laws. Whenever I leave the state I get a variety of drinks you can't get here.

Pretty damn Tasty Chip Dip

1. I haven't named it, but it seriously looks like puke. TASTES INCREDIBLY GOOD THOUGH. and it's easy to make:

2 -12 oz FMV cream cheese
2 cans Hormel Beanless chili
1 pound italian sausage

In a decent sized pot, warm the chili at a medium/high heat, and gradually stir in the cream cheese. Keep stirring until the cream cheese has melted completely.

In a seperate pan, brown the italian sausage. Season to your liking.

Drain the excess grease and add to the chili/cheese mixture.

Serve it hot with some of the deep scooping chips. Set some spoons out too because you can eat this stuff like a meal.

For more, just remember it's one can chili to one package cream cheese.

I found two Rothlisburger recipes...
#1
1-1/2 pound hamburger patty (yes, that big), hot sausage (I am cooking mine into a pattys), fried onions, scrambled eggs, american cheese.

#2 Large hamburger patty, bacon, ranch dressing, cheddar, provolene cheese.

One food item local fans could have hard time finding is the official Ben Roethlisburger. Comprised of ground beef, sausage, scrambled eggs, grilled onions and American cheese, the creation of Pittsburgh restaurant owner Jeff Trebac isn't served in the Erie area.

I haven't really thought about what we'll be eating, but I just heard that Jerome Bettis is from Detroit. In case you didn't immediately put the connection together, that's where this year's Super Bowl is being held. So, you know, it ought to make for an interesting sub-plot to the game.

Funny how things happen - I wonder how many people have put that together. Someone ought to do a story about it.

Salmon would be good! I have one Cobia steak left so I'm gonna grill him. Brown rice, leaf salad and a few brews.
