Default ESPN Monday Night Football

NFL | ESPN has Plan B for Monday nights
Mon, 30 Jan 2006 05:42:52 -0800

Andrew Marchand, of the New York Post, reports ESPN has a Plan B for their Monday Night Football broadcasts should they allow Al Michaels to leave, as previously reported. ESPN is strongly considering putting talk show host/columnist Tony Kornheiser on its telecast next year. If the network allows Michaels out of his contract then the new team is expected to be led by Mike Tirico. Tirico will be joined by Joe Theismann and Kornheiser, if Kornheiser agrees to ESPN's offer that is believed to be for around $1 million.

No more Joe! Please! Not sure what Kornheiser would add if this comes to pass.

Please, dear football gods, dont put in an untried POS ESPN announcer in that spot. For the love of my ears, I'm begging you.

How bout we put Dan Dierdorf, Brent Musburger, that hack Joe Buck, Joe Theisman, and Pat Summerall on the broadcast just so we can officially snuff MNF once and for all.

But wouldn't that mean Kornheiser would have to travel? I thought he hates to travel.

I love Kornheiser, but he and Wilbon have that running gag on PTI that Kornheiser's in bed every night by 8 pm. Chances are good he'd actually pass out during the telecast.

Yep, doesn't like to fly. Guess they could give a bus and he could turn in into The Korny Kruiser.

What's the story behind that? I never heard about it and would be curious why TJ doesn't get along with Belichick.

I think TJ mashed Bellychex sandwich a la Chris Berman. Bellychex didn't like it and pouted to Tom Brady. Brady came out to confront TJ and Tommy gave Brady a Super Tackle and rendered Brady impotent. Now Bellychex can't touch Brady's rock hard wanker and it's causes some friction between the two ever since.

After the Patriots cut Lawyer Milloy 1 week before the 2003 season opener they got smoked by the Bills 31-0. TJ went on primetime and said the Patriot Players "they hate their coach" Supposedly it really bothered Bill more than anyone knew. After they won SB 38 TJ went up to Belichick on the field to congradulate him. Belichick looked at him and said "f#ck you"

wow, i had no idea. i always thought Belichick had ice water running through his veins. But then again TJ wan't commenting on coaching ability he was talking about his personal relationship with the team.

Did I miss the news about Michaels? What happened? I thought it was a given that it was going to be him and Theismann.

I wish they would leave as it is. Pattrick, Maguire, and Theisman. I hate Tirico because he goes insane on a 15 yard play. Kornhole is just another Dennis miller who has no live broadcast experince in my memory.

Oh God I cannot stand 1 of these guys! Why wouldnt they bring in Paul Maguire? He is the best color guy in the league, IMO.

Looks like I'll be muting the telecast and turning on the radio from now on.
