Default Cutler

Here's a radical idea that I haven't heard anybody talking about...

Why don't we trade a 1st round pick to Chicago and get Cutler back? A few thoughts...

1. We have a lousy draft position and more than anything we need a quarterback. We aren't going to sell the farm to trade up, if anything we'll trade down.

2. We are set at RB, WR, and most of the D; QB is a major weakness right now.

3. Chicago does NOT love Cutler, I would think they would engage in this discussion

4. By picking so low in the draft, we will almost certainly be overreaching for whoever we draft in Round 1 (pretty much all picks after 25 are true 2nd round talent). In this scenario, we would be "drafting" a veteran essentially, rather than a project.

5. For all his flaws, Cutler is a HUGE upgrade over Sanchez, Kaep, and Hoyer.

6. Why did he leave Denver in the first place?

I know it will likely never happen--if I have thought of this, I'm sure others have as well--but I think it is really an opportunity that should be considered. I'm interested in feedback.

**Side note: I've been reading the blog for a while now, it's exciting to actually post!**

GO BRONCS!

You want to trade for a guy that has been a career underachiever with no playoff wins? No thanks... The only good thing that came from the McDaniels era was Cutler being ejected out of Denver. Seemed bad at the time but helped us eventually land Manning and a super bowl.

You know he is 1-1 in the playoffs right?

Cutler is a horrible idea, sorry. No thanks.

There's no way Elway brings that guy in to support this defense.

I'd rather roll with Dirty than Crybaby based on attitude alone.

You haven't heard anybody talking about it because it's a terrible idea.

Let's get a qb that has been in the playoffs one time in his career. He is a painted over turd.

I'd make that trade in a heartbeat. He'd be a modern Jake Plummer here I think. I think he'd excel in the run first system Kubes wants to play and the defense can cover for the occasional mistake.

I've been a long time vocal critic of Cutler, but as a cog in a bigger machine I think he could be a good QB.

And he's never won a playoff game vs a team with a winning record. And in that playoff game he lost, he quit on his team, and cried in his locker when his teammates called him out.

I'd give a first for a 33 year old Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers has 7 playoff wins, a super bowl, 5 pro bowls, 2 all-pros, and he turns 33 in December.

Cutler has 1 superficial playoff win, 1 pro bowl, and turns 33 Friday.

Not for a first, but he's better than whoever it is we're going to have under center this year.

Can't bring him back though. Been there, done that.

He's not even a painted turd. He's a soft turd on light colored carpet.
