I wanna say Gap Band's 'You Dropped a Bomb on Me,' or 'Superstition' by Stevie Wonder ... they'd me my favorites.

But I have to go with Rick James' 'Super Freak' ... such a stone cold hammer-groove of a hook, that 10 years later somebody lifted THE WHOLE THING, changed the words, and presto! Yet ANOTHER great funk song.

I friggin' love this song ... James Brown's first hit. It's plenty funky, but still it's probably more soul than funk, right?

I dare anybody to listen just once .........

Luckily you don't like as many funk songs as board games.

This song is very recent but you old school funk fans will be shocked at how much it sounds like the old stuff.

Great song, but nobody knew what was about to hit them over the head.

Cold Sweat!!!

Everybody takes for granted the music he created. There wouldn't be no Rick James or Prince. I wish I was there in the audience when it was fresh and different from anything. Then look at Prince and all the music he's influenced. None of that would be possible. It's a shame I can't find any Prince music for this thread. He won't allow us to share. A whole generation of internet kids are missing out on his entire catalog. If anybody knows how to post Prince songs in this thread, please do so.

I finally found Prince, but he's with his new hard rock group. I want to find some of his 70's stuff when he opened for Rick James.
