The Real "12th Man"

I just remembered something I saw/heard this weekend during the Seahawks game and wanted to comment. Early on, when Siragusa was doing his sideline report, he commented that Qwest Field was the loudest stadium in the NFL. Almost immediately afterwards, while the crowd was "going crazy", the camera panned over to a sound measuring device they were keeping on the field. The measurement…..a whole 101 decibels. You've got to be kidding me. Seattle makes such a big deal about the supposed noise levels that stadium generates and that was the best they could do?! The old Mile High hit 128.7 decibels back in 2000 and it wasn't even designed to be as loud as these newer stadiums like Qwest and Invesco. They really need a reality check.

I would've liked to have seen the decibel measurement in Denver this past weekend…..or this coming weekend. I guarantee they'd be closer to 128 than 101. Let's give it up for the Rocky Mountain Thunder!

Wasn't that during halftime during a Guiness record attempt and not during a game? If they conduct the same experiment at Qwest, do they beat it? They might.

It was at halftime when we hosted the Patsies. We set the record that day, but many fans were out at concessions, smoking areas and draining the system. t could have been louder!

They need to do that again this weekeend while the Steelers offense is on the field. The 12th man is needed more than ever

Just an observation, but I wonder how much of a factor that will be against a team that just played 2 playoff games on the road? There were no false starts last week in Indy and the only delay of game came on a punt. And this is in the stadium where the Steelers complained about the Colts piping in crowd noise during their MNF game, so you know the crowd was ready to give it to them.

As for the Invesco crowd last weekend, I wasn't at the game, but it seemed like it took the crowd a while to just get the hang of the "in-com-plete" chant so the non-season tickets might not in the hands of particularly savvy Broncos fans. Anybody else think that was off at first?

Actually, I was at that game. During halftime the folks from Guiness were there, and Denver did NOT break the record then. The record was broken in the 4th Qtr! I *thinkg* it was during a late comeback by Elway and company and the record was broken when we scored.

Every game that Siragusa does he says that........even in back to back weeks. No way Seattle was near as loud as us last week

I was there as well. It occurred during the Deltha O'Neal punt return for a TD (of all things) that got them back in the game against the Pats. Elway was long gone by then.
