Default stupid picture

http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/3...copy6rp0qv.jpg

This image has gone over the net to try and prove Champ Bailey's fumble was a touchdown and used by some anaysts to claim the ball traveled out the endzone.

For someone to think this image any proof they simply fail to think intuitively.

It is quite obvious you can't simply draw the line because the camera shot was a near 45 degree angle of the incident, elevated many feet above the ground. Then you take into consideration that the angle of incident is in no way indictive of the where the ball actually was relative to the ground when the fumble occured.

If you shift the camera's view from the 45 degree angle to a top birds eye view, because there is perceived distance between the ball's original spot on the camera (elevated) and the ground point relative to it (non elevated) the entire line would shift toward the bottom of the screen. And most likely, that line would shift past the Endzone line.

Otherwise line would be inconclusive if he tried to indicate the point on the ground directly below the ball. And if he simply drew a line from the balls original spot on the screen to its new spot, that would be pointless and even suggest the the play indeed ended in the field of play.

It was damn close, but one angle clearly showed it OB, if only by a pubic hair. Fergy should of looked over his right shoulder!

Its still pretty funny that 1) the picture is fuzzy as hell. 2) Champ bailey is 3 or 4 yards out a bounds by the look of that pic so that wont tell you anything about the initial impact of the hit by Watson. looks like someone is grasping at straws.

Ok, I'm going to say this once, because it needs to be said. YOU CANNOT DETERMINE WHERE THE BALL WENT OUT OF BOUNDS BY DRAWING A STRAIGHT LINE TO WHERE IT SITS WHEN THE PLAY IS OVER AND THE BALL HAS STOPPED MOVING.

First, the ball BOUNCES IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT WAYS AFTER IT HITS THE GROUND. Let me repeat that for the idiots who don't understand: When the ball hits the ground, it could bounce left, right, backwords, even forwards (if it bounced off the wall) and its extremely difficult to determine where it left the playing field simply by pointing out where it sits after it has stopped moving.

The Ball is oblong, full of air, has laces tied into it, and in general, does not bounce is a straight direction. EVER.

Go ahead. Take a footbal and try to bounce it in a straight line. Go ahead. Do it. If you can make that ball hit the ground and roll straight, your a f##king genius and you should be the next Einstein because you know how to manipulate a moving object, contrary to existing gravitational laws.

Exactly. One other thing...had NE been given the ball on their 20 as the result of the play being overturned, it would have basically been the same thing as a 75 yard penalty. Pretty tough to overcome. It was 10-6 at the time, and there's a good chance they'd have punted it back to us. It's funny how a seemingly good thing can backfire. Look at the Indy-Steelers game. The refs screw the Steelers out of a safety and rule Manning was tackled on the 1 yard line...a TERRIBLE call. So instead of 2 points and the ball probably around their 35, the Steelers get it back on the Indy side of the field after the punt and score the 7 instead.

Poetic justice.

These are the people who hounded Bill Buckner and Grady Little out of the state of Massachusetts. Believe me, these crybabies and sore losers will whine about this until we're all dead.

Maybe they should analyze this pic which was clearly a fumble.

Are they still looking for the second gunman? Christ, haven't we been through this?

There's the ball leaving Champ's hand, on it's way out of bounds a yard ahead of the pylon.

Here you can see Champ's body is out of bounds since he's to the left of the pylon. The ball is well out of bounds and just now about even with the pylon.

The ball didn't go through the end zone no matter how much Pats fans want to believe it did.

Just do what you know New England fan, find a curse to blame it on.

I did a similar experiment using tivo. I drew a line from where the ball left Champ's hand at the 1.5 yard line to where it first landed, and there is absolutely no way the ball went into the end zone. How long is it going to take the NFL to get a camera directly down the goal line? It would exonerate the call undeniably.

Four words for Pats fans "tuck rule" and "shut up". They were spanked, and they darn sure ought to know it.

You know what...it all doesn't matter any way. If it was here or there or even down the street, the Broncos would have scored a touch down anyway.

I suspect that all that time in Las Vegas is finally starting to adle your memory Slap.

I think the national media made far less of a show when the tuck rule saved the PAts, but as for the fans their incessant b****ing couldn't possibly have gotten worse.

Steve Youngs take on why the Patriots didn't get the ball is because the NFL employs the fat/slow referees who couldn't catch up to call the ball out through the end zone. Patriots shot themselves in the foot. Again.
On the other side of the coin, Champ should have held the ball closer until end.
