How can I do this.
1. We won't turn over the ball. We haven't all season, no reason to think we will now. Our backs don't fumble, and Jake's reads are so easy to make, he only throws picks when he has to make a decision, and that is rarely. 2. We will force turnovers via our blitz package. Rothleisberger will force plays, throw crazy balls trying to make something happen, and we will take advantage. He is gonna be punished, if he is even healthy. Imagine 11 frenzied sharks with blood in the water. The defense is gonna be agressive, hitting hard, and making Rothlisberger run for his life all day on passing downs. 3. We are at home, again, 9-0 this year. 4. We are better in all facets of the game, off, def, and special teams. Therefore the only way the Steelers can win is if we lose our minds and turn the ball over alot. See reason #1. 5. The Steelers might be able to contain our running game, but we are definitely due for a big run. Even if that doesn't happen, our playaction passes will, once again, lead to our big plays. Same thing year after year, but it works. Our system is a proven commodity, going on 8 years now. No one has figured out how to stop it yet. Our passing game is peaking right now and I think we can take advantage of Troy Palumalu blitzing so much. 6. We have the better of the two head coaches. Few things that worry me. 1. Willie Parkers speed. 2. Screen passes. 3. Trick plays. First thing we gotta do is contain the run early. When Rothliesberger is throwing the ball, advantage Broncos. That said, I expect them to again come out throwing the ball however, rather than try to set up the run first, as they did this week vs the Colts. How do we stop that, zone blitz him early and often. Again, this may leave us open to screen plays, which I think the Steelers will probably call at least 3 times on Sunday. But I'll take my chances with our speedy linebackers. I love all the matchups, the rookie corner, our oline, our play action vs thier overagressiveness, our screen plays too, our home field etc... Prediction Broncos by 14 |

No fear. The better team will win Sunday, and that is obviously us.
There is no such thing as karma, luck, or whatever. Just look at the matchups. |

I agree we will win. Your assesment on Jake is BS, though. You don't go
14-3 with a QB who can't make decisions. I don't care how simple you try to make things, at some point your QB has to make a play and Jake has done that more that he has screwed up this year. |

Plummer will have a big game. Their secondary outside of Palomalu is garbage. I don't feel they'll stop our running game or be able to run the ball themselves against us consistently. The best way to beat the vaunted zone blitz is to run right at it. Our team is just as physical if not more so than the Steelers. Two Jakes in the Super Bowl. That would have to be some sort of record.

If we can back them off before the first half ends, we will win in a big fashion. If they keep blitzing all day, it might stay close towards the end. |

While we should win and I think we will, this is going to be our toughest game, by far, of the year and could easily go either way. The Steelers are the one team I didn't want to face this year as I said before the palyoffs started.
They are almost a carbon copy of us in many respects with a better long ball game (Big Ben is a more accurate passer than Jake, particularly on the intermediate to long stuff), while we have a decided edge in the all-important turnover ratio with +20 advantage for us versus a +6 or +7 for them. Rothlesburger has 17TDs and only 7INTs in just 12 games and had he played all 16 he would have likely had 24 TDs and only 9 or 10 INT ( if that many) which is very good and perhaps a better ratio than Jakes stats. He also completed almost 64% of his passes which was a good deal better than Jakes average. Looking at his stats in more detail he had 2 INTs against Indy and 3 INTs the next week against Cincy which were the first two games back from his 4 week injury and he was very rusty and highly immobile then. When he was healthy all the way through the Charger game (including against NE) and the again after his return from injury from after the second Cincy game onward after he got in sync again he didnt throw ANY INTs until the final 2 he threw in the last game agasint Detroit (a game I was praying for Detroit to win and knock these guys out of the playoffs altogether). So you're assessment that Ben is wild and will throw us many picks is not founded on actual reality this year. He has improved as much this year from last as Jake did. If Rothlesburger didnt get injured and miss 4 games, two of which they lost, I suspect we might well be going to Pittsburg for the AFC title game this week instead of the other way around. We are going to have to play our very best game of the year and be much tougher against the run and MUCH tougher against the pass particuarlly the medium and long ball. We are going to have to run one hell of a lot better than we did this weekend (which I think we can) This Steeler team is not a one dimensional team like NE which can only pass. they can run too and are very effective in the red zone with Bettis, Parker, Hines Ward and Heath Miller as options. On the postiive side, I think we can move the ball against these big guys with a smart game plan and IF Jake can finally get that long to medium ball connected with accuracy and consistency. He simply can't throw any more of those off target floaters this week or we are likely going to be watching the Super bowl on TV. The three endzone pass attempts to Lelie against NE were ALL uncatchable balls and Jake has simply got to be more on the money with those if we are going to make it to the Super bowl. Similarly, if they get a 10 point or greater lead we will likely be in big trouble. The other reason I didnt want them to survive is that they are one of the best road teams in the NFL! Luckily our home crowd is like nothing they have seen and the thin air will start burning those big-boy lungs like Joey Porter and Bettis fairly early and with our blitzing defense on Ben I do like our chances. We just have to execute and come up with 3 or 4 big plays on offense and a similar number on defense and get a 2+ TD lead early and we win going away. There now ... I've reset this thread's mojo to neutral. :-) Last edited by Hulamau; 01-16-2006 at 12:24 PM.. |

If you look at 2005 season stats, will show that the Steelers are similar to Broncos in Points allowed(16) and scored(24), with a small edge in Punting for the Broncos.
This game is going to be a small scoring affair where any mistake will decide the outcome. |

I'm not all that impressed. Chicago was a home game. Minnesota was a nice road win. Cleveland was a joke. Detroit was a joke. Cincinnati lost their best player on the 2nd play of the game. Indy was a HUGE win and they deserve credit for it. Their team speed on defense is scary and they get qb's rattled early and often. Still, Denver's got a more impressive season, IMO.

Your offense is unstoppable, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Scoring drives vs. PATS: 40 Yard drive - (assisted by the back judge - 39 yd PI) so basically a 1 yard drive. 7 yards 1 yard 15 yards 61 yards That's some powerful offense you got there. And Pitts D is better than the Pats. |
