Default Samardzija = McCaffery

Man...the more I watch this kid from Notre Dame the more he reminds me of Eddy. He has great hands and isn't afraid to take a hit. Would look good in Bronco colors next year.

Samardzija = Howard Stern. During the All-America show I saw, Regis asked him if anyone had ever told him he looked like Howard Stern. He didn't seem too pleased with the question, understandably.

That aside, I do like the kid a lot and he does seem to have some McCaffrey in him.

I agree. He is my favorite WR in the country.

I think this guy is a Junior, saw him do an interview during NBC broadcast of a ND game.
He said he likes Baseball and didn't know if he would DO the NFL or MLB.

Drek has the whole story, but they said during the ND Mich game that he was a top baseball pitcher who may not even play football next year if he feels it will hurt his chances in baseball.

He is a junior. Really don't think he's gonna declare early. This is his first season contributing substantially. I'd be stunned if he doesn't play football next year at ND. I also think he really prefers football. He does remind me of McCaffrey also. Maybe a little faster.

I'm not nearly as impressed as the rest of you. I don't see him having the same success at the next level.

He doesn't have nearly the future as a baseball player, and I think he realizes this. He and his family were strongly considering MLB after his first two years of college where he pitched very well but was invisible on the football field. Despite that, he's on a football scholarship and wasn't even recruited as a baseball player out of high school, he had to walk onto the team. He's a righty with a high 80's fastball and ok but unimpressive secondary pitches. If he was 18 he'd be a great project, since his frame indicates the ability to throw much harder than he currently does and he shows great control of his fastball, but the fact remains actually 20, and therefore would be well behind his age group in development should he play baseball.

The football thing is starting to take off for him. I'd imagine he comes back next year, where he's Quinn's only big target (Stovall graduates) and can make himself a 1st round WR. He doesn't have nearly the potential as a baseball player, and personal preference is the only thing that'd keep him from playing football. His best career is certainly not down that path. If he says he'd rather play baseball he'd probably go between rounds 8-15 in the MLB draft, otherwise he'll be a middle to late (20-30th rounds) selection by a team hoping they get a small steal.

He can block dude. He is 6'5 220, runs 4.4, has great hands, and is learning Pro-offense from Charlie Weiss. What Concerns you may I ask?

Here's another McCaffery like guy coming from a similar offense. Might be tough though seeing as how he broke Lynch's bum last year. As per espn:
Veteran WR Brian Finneran will be a free agent in the offseason because he appeared in enough of the Falcons' offensive plays this season to trigger a clause that voids the remainder of his contract. Finneran finished second to TE Alge Crumpler for the team lead in receptions. Word out of Atlanta is that the team won't break the bank to re-sign Finneran. The thought of getting him back at a reduced rate probably won't happen because Finneran is expected to draw plenty of interest on the open market.
