Minn vs Virginia.
I'm sure there are a few of you that haven't had the chance to see Lawrence Maroney (RB Minn, 1st round grade), Greg Eslinger (Center Minn, late first early 2nd), Mark Setterstrom (OG Minn, 3rd round grade), and D'Brickshaw Ferguson (LT Va, top 5 pick grade). There have been quite a few that say that Maroney isn't tough... watch this game and tell me he's not tough! I think you'll be pleasantly suprised! |

Denver Broncos Scout is on hand watching Maroney... they feel he's a first round pick!

Just heard that D'Brick is an accomplished matial artist. They were talking about one of Minny's DE's trying to chop at his arms... probably not a good idea considering he's a 1st degree black belt.

This game is getting out of hand quick. I though VA would do better.

Mason always has plenty of talent, but never seems to use it to its full potential and it alwasys seems like he is whining about his contract or throwing his name out for other jobs.
I like all those guys you mentioned. VA also has the linebacker and the other OT who are pretty damn good. |

Yes, they said it during the first quarter of the game. Polian (INDY GM) was also on hand. I'm sure he was catching a glimpse of D'Brick, but more likely had his sights set on Maroney, Elsinger and Setter. |

While it'd be surprising, selecting an RB in the first wouldn't be a waste in my mind. |

I think drafting a RB in the first round would be pretty interesting. Considering the guys that would go in round 1 at our range (Maroney, White, Williams...maybe) I think we'd get one heck of a player!

I don't see us going RB in round 1, though, based on our needs and our history of finding RB's in later rounds. We always do seem to have draft day surprises, however, so who knows. |

I tend to be skeptical of labels like "1st rounder" when put on most RBs. Bush and Deangelo Williams are 1st rounders, but after that I'd be surprised if many more are taken. RB is too easy to fill to waste a 1st rounder on, and many teams realize this, starting to wait for the 2nd and 3rd rounds to draft them.

Maroney's style kind of reminds me of Eric Dickerson. Runs tall, gliding deceptive speed. Apparently an excellent downfield receiver. I'm really getting a feeling we could go RB early in this draft. Still like LenDale White for our offense.

I wouldn't be hurt if Dever went runningback in the 1st round. Having an elite back would be awesome. They could fill the rest of the holes with our numerous other picks.

The only RB I really want to see Denver grab right now (that will be around at our pick) is Lendale White. Can't put my finger on it, but I think this guy is going to run in the 4.5 flat range. That's faster than TD and he is a VERY SIMILAR runner. Great size and there's no question he's a team player that can give you 30 carries a game if need be.

He ran a 4.41 coming out of HS there in Denver. I wouldn't be the least bit suprised to see him run close to what Reggie runs. Remember last year prior to Ronnie Brown running... he was just a big bruising back with good hands that split time with the Cadillac. He runs a 4.35 and becomes the talk of the town. Should Lendale run in the 4.4's you'll see his stock sky rocket... which could drop DeAngelo Williams to us, but not sure I want him in the first, though I do think he's one helluva player. Just too similar to what we have now, plus Dayne did a great job pushing his way through holes today!

I dunno man, I'd love DeAngelo Williams too though. He's just super-productive, like LT or Tiki... And Dayne looked good again today too. Hope we resign him next year...I bet he comes back on his own anyways. |
