One thing that could be handled on the site itself is a "picture of me" thread. People simply post images of themselves every so often so we all know who we are talking to. There is one on the freak and i gotta say it has helped me ID freaks when I see them at games and at Elway's HOF induction. If we know what people look like ahead of time, then meeting up may not be as difficult on game day.

I have pics of pretty much everyone that has ever been to a tailgate on the of1 site between this year and last year. With some help with some people we could create a photo album and add their names to the pics. This would take some work but maybe in the offseason we could make it happen. Last years pics are buried in the site and are not accessible via a link at the present time.
I remember a few years ago when I would try to organize a tailgate around here and there would be ZERO responses. Things have come a long way! We can definetly implement some of the above ideas so people won't miss one another anymore and feel more comfortable introducing/meeting one another. Once the album's put together...as a tailgate nears, we could perhaps compile a list of the OMers who plan to be at that particular game and post pix from past tailgates on that game's thread so that there would be faces to go with the names... I really like the whiteboard idea.... and one could get orange and blue markers to use on it.... ![]() |

I would be all for an orange shirt with your screen name on it.. but I understand the complications. how about custom lanyards with a type of pass on it, or just the lanyard itself?
http://www.lowpricelanyards.com/ Im not endorsing that site, I just googled it and found an example. Last edited by El Guapo; 12-27-2005 at 02:43 PM.. |

The lanyards idea is the easiest...I may have some extras from a conference we ran...I'll PM you if I can get my hands on them Meck.

Put me down as supporting the chalkboard idea.
Having a personalized jersey with my name on it, I'm really unconcerned about missing anyone.......afterall, it stands out so much that anyone looking for me can find me pretty easily. I'm not sure I'd wanna stick a pin in it..we're talking a lot of jack for one of those. Really, I haven't had too much problem finding anyone...the "Post Your Pic" threads give you an indication of how someone looks and I've found that no matter what degree of hostility there is amongst posters in say like...the war and politics room for example, we're all one and the same on gameday...together in Broncos brotherhood, as it should be. So yeah, a white poster board with everyone in attendance names on it (serious names at that...no "Watermock" TJ! ) should , IMO get the job done. |

let us include not only our name moniker but include our jersey number, name away or home and old school or new school jersey. Not everyone wears a jersey but if this is part of our description every time we post, people will know what to look for. As for me, i would have (Simon) FLETCHER #73, Home/Old School . It is something easy for the adminastrator to add and if we ever change jerseys, we can update our clothing digs.

I found a source for cheap plain orange lanyards, I have a laminator and could make up name tags to hang around the neck (biz card size, 4x6, larger? ) for those who are going to the game, would just need to know who is going before hand...any ideas for a common background? was thinking orange paper/blue ink...if we want to get serious, we could have lanyards personalized with orangemane/OF1 or something but those are a couple bucks each and they want orders in quantity of 500-1000...other ideas? wish i was in San Diego now...

The whiteboard sounds good, but I really like Maverick's idea of using lanyards with IDs. I hate wearing IDs, but you could make them large like press passes or photographer passes that make people seem more prestigious so maybe people will actually wear them. They are usually slightly larger than index cards. Pictures aren't necessary if the person's actually wearing his tag. Just have the person's handle on the ID.

I'm thinking more Chief gear needs to be worn at the tailgates. But thats just me. I may be way off base on this.

I like the idea of marking names on a white board, however this method leads to one potential issue. If I write on the board "Stanky76" does anyone know who I am by simply reading the board? The person would have to ask around. Lanyards are a great idea to know the difference between O-maners and the rest of the crowd at the tailgate. How about this idea. Everyone post their pic on the site as thier Avatar?
If anyone wants to know I alway's were the Alternate McCaffrey Jersey. I'm easy to be seen since it's all Orange, I also wear Broncos Sunglasses. And to make it even easier I'm the "Fat Kid", just look at the Raiders Hottub pictures. I'm not easy to miss - . |
