I wasn't sure what I was in for when I got to Ralph Wilson Stadium in my Eddie Mac jersey and my "ol'skool" helmet. But in the aftermath, I can see why places like the Meadowlands are banning alcohol for prime time games after all the arrests they had.
It turned out that I had tickets to "THE ROCKPILE", section 201... the worst spot for visiting fans to be in. I guess it's the equivalent to The Black Hole in Oakland, but instead of Road Warrior extras and Star Wars characters, these fans were done up like the perpetrators on COPS. I still can't figure out how a guy can stand near 0 degree windchills while just wearing a wifebeater?! The final talley, there were 5 fist fights (most were Bills on Bills fans ), a couple of guys ejected for spitting on fans (one just missed me and hit a Bills fan next to me) and one guy nailed for bringing in a 40 of vodka. By halftime, over half of the section was deserted either because they were kicked out or they were cut off. Regrets?? Other than not being able to find fellow Maners at the tailgate, I still have to say no. I have to say that the majority of Bills fans were easy going and the folks around me were pretty good overall. I also got to meet fellow Bronco fans all the way from Ohio to Ontario. And it was awesome to see the Broncos live for the first time. Overall, it was a great experience... but I question the stadium's decision to let fans drink during the game while they were already piss-tanked from a day's worth of tailgating. ![]() |

Thank God that the Broncos made the game into a laugher in the 2nd half and most of the hooligans were booted out by then. Otherwise I would have had to defend myself. ![]() |

I'm just glad all the guys that went made it out without any ugly, Arrowhead type of incidents. I'd say you were very lucky. |
