I know that I have been as critical as anyone of this team, but hey their my team. What I don't get is how this team is suddenly being dismissed by the national media. I know we haven't really looked great in the past two weeks (granted it was a no win proposition: we wouldn't have looked good unless we beat both teams by 40), but how is it that suddenly we aren't a threat to Indy, but nearly everyone else is (including the team NE team we destroyed). What's more some teams get knocked for playing poorly (Denver) while others get a free pass. Cincy barely beat Cleveland and no one discretided them for it. Pittsburgh lost to Baltimore. San Diego just lost to Miami and he thinks their the 4th best team in the league?! They can't win any close games so why are they a threat in the playoffs? Bottom line, this team is 11 - 3 having played one of the toughest schedules in football and in the best division. It is total disrespect to overlook us right now.

I also don't get where he gets off calling Hobbs the best 3rd round pick this year. What about Foxworth? Foxworth was already in line to take Darrent's job when Darrent got hurt. This kid is good. How about the fact that his play won the game against Philly? Does that matter? How about the fact that he was a difference maker in a win @J'ville. Does that count? Oh, I'm sorry, he plays east of the Mississippi. I see now...

What a blow heart. I hope we get a shot at Pittsburgh and NE. Unless KC helps us out, I think we end up with #3 seed as I don't think we can win @SD. That means we'd get Pittsburgh first and then NE (assuming they beat J'Ville).

Although he did have this little gem:

The Chiefs. Crummy tackling, turnovers in the clutch, another horse-dung road performance.

And this one:
If you're a Raiders fan right now, how do you take it? I mean, really

Its like I said even if we are the number two team we will get over looked. Nothing we do will change that either. The media hype is on NE, Cin, and Indy. Face it we are a team without name power. Bailey is about it and there is only so much love a DB can get that isn't named Sanders. Our best story of the year was the play of Jake and the Browncos.

If you lurk on a few other NFL boards you'll find that every one of them has a fan base that thinks they're not getting respect from the media. I could care less what the national media thinks. When we win a playoff game we'll get some respect. In the meantime I'm more interested in whether Shanny is getting together a strategy for the Dolts that doesn't include rushing 3 guys and giving Harrison & Co. a 10 yard cushion with our corners.

I liked this about Melonhead. It's amazing that he's like anyone else when he gets pressure on him and makes mistakes. He had several other passes that could've been picked.

1. Indianapolis (13-1). Maybe I'm looking for reasons to question this team right now. But did you see Peyton Manning happy-footing it, looking uneasy with all that pressure? Pressure's the way to go against Manning, even though he handles it great some Sundays. He handled it poorly against San Diego

But what website is any different? Denver is losing steam in nearly every publication I read. That's the point. Again, we haven't had much of an opportunity to shine lately with our schedule (a win @KC would have helped in the respect dept). But does that suddenly mean we aren't a good team?

I know one thing: I seriously doubt we can win in the playoffs by running 1/3 of the time in the first half. Shanny better figure out what adjustments teams are making against our run game and get it figured out. The second half last week was a good start.

This is a shocker isn't it. In my mind there are two fundamental rules in football to win consistently:
1) On offense you must be able to run (or at least pose a threat).
2) On defense you must be able to rush the passer.

Indy sucked on both accounts Sunday. I don't know many QBs that play well when they are running for cover on every play.

Rick Riley's article about King Elway in 97 SI ( I believe ) was the best thing ever written about the king IMO.

Especially when you run like Manning, who runs like an ostrich or some other awkward animal. It did make me think of how rarely we ever see him have to run.

Yes, by ranking New England as the 2nd best team in the NFL......Peter King has proven definitively that he is one of the biggest Patriot nut-huggers of all time.....

Christ.....even before the Tampa game, when they had won (gasp) TWO IN A ROW, the media was saying they are "back"......for God's sake, they had beaten the JETS and the BILLS.......BIG FRIGGIN DEAL !!!!

All the better....make me the underdog...That's why I took the Broncos for the Super Bowl in 87. That's why I beat my chest when we played the Niners to much ridicule. That's why when we played Super Bowl 32 as a 14 point dog wild card team I walked around with a complete look of determination like I was somehow going to play in the game. **** the Media and their sperm-burping whore business....a bunch low level pimps. I don't take my ques from those cretins. And neither should you my Bronco brother.

There are no style points...only wins and losses.

Actually much of what he wrote was not that bothersome (and until DB beat NE in the playoffs, or at least give them a game, one can understand his stance). What I found ludicrous, and expect much of the media to bandwagon on, is NE being ranked #2. Yes they beat TB, but they are basically playing a rookie QB, and that team has only beaten one decent team (Carolina). Interestingly enough, Carolina has lost some weird games this yr. So other than TB, which is still a major question mark, what team has NE beaten? The joy of bandwagons, and front-runner cheerleading (NE is the SB team).

PS, PK usually gives a lot of respect to Denver. He is probably pissed because Jake failed him when he predicted Jake as the MVP a couple of yrs ago.

Peter King is right though, I don't like our chances without Darrent Williams against Cincy or Colts. Maybe Pats and Chargers as well.

well at least espn page 2 'gets it', as of today:

Three AFC QBs for the Pro Bowl?
BM: Sorry, Tommy -- it's Peyton, Jake and Carson
AG: Plummer, P. Manning, Palmer
DS: Peyton, Palmer, Brady
SJ: Plummer, Palmer, Peyton

Pretty tough competition when Drew Brees can't even get mentioned.

And they only had two WR's in Moulds and Evans, and Moulds did most of his damage against Brandon.
