Default Best Unsung Broncos

Thought I'd take some time to throw props to the guys who are playing great but not getting talked about much on our team.

Nick Ferguson: I just noticed when I went to VOTE FOR JAKE that Nick leads all strong safeties in interceptions. That's pretty impressive. He hasn't been perfect but he's been pretty darn close to doing everything you want a safety to do.

Kyle Johnson: He's been a TD machine. It's hilarious that they were talking about how he needed to improve his pass-catching ability in the offseason because no all he does is catch passes for touchdowns. Blocking has been pretty solid too. I mean he's no human plow, but factor in his other expertise and no one's complaining.

Todd Sauerbrun: He's been punting well, which is to be expected, but bigger than that is he isn't in the news for being found drunk on some ladies' lawn or mouthing off to the media about how bad ass we are. He's handled kickoff duties and had two of his punts get blocked but we've not heard even the slightest complaint. Thank you, Todd.

Keith Burns: He's been a special teams demon all year. One our surest tacklers, he just blows up returns and swarms ball carriers. Speaking of special teams players, see also Cecil Sapp.

Cornell Green: Played well enough to split time with Foster (though injury probably had some to do with that). Still he's been solid and really helped a line that doesn't have much depth.

Another guy who does not get much love here is Hamilton. The guy has been nearly perfect this year and they have changed the schemes to include having him pull to help out when they run to the right. Most of the big runs have been to the left and he and Lepsis have been incredible at getting downfield.

I also think that DJ has been somewhat overlooked by the fans because his tackles stats are down. That is not a bad thing. Opposing coaches know the force he is. I believe Tuna came out and said he should be in the Pro bowl. He will get his recognition at the strong side very soon.

Johnson been a factor in the red zone. Teams have to respect the run so when we play action, send Rod, Lelie on deep/intermediate routes and Jeb goes up the seam, Kyle does a great job of rolling off the middle and finding space on the sidelines. I really think we need to use him and Jeb a lot more often to work the short routes.

Someone that people were bagging on in the offseason is Cooper Carlisle. He has played pretty damn good. Also, you could make the argument for most of the O-Line, but someone who does not get enough national attention is Matt Lepsis.

Coop has been solid and we've got him locked up as well as Foster/Hamilton. Looks like the team might have to decide between Nalen/Lepsis.

I'm going to have to say FOX. Yeah, he might not be quite Unsung, but when is a rookie 3rd round draft pick not Unsung? Though, he is going to prove how much of a hero he is in the next few weeks. I am thinking BIG...

Another Unsung Hero, Atleast on this BOARD is IAN GOLD. He has come up with some big plays, HUGE Plays, this year, but many just conveniently sweep them under the rug. I know, I, for one, am ecstatic that IAN GOLD is a BRONCO!!!

Lepsis is also DEFINITELY on that List. I had my doubts this offseason, but he has really stepped up. Major Props to Lepsis.

We might have to have a 24 hour prayer ceremony for Foxworth...or send Jeff Foxworth for a few laughs....he's going to obviously be critical...I think he can hold his own at the very least...Champ is going to find himself on an island tho....If they send the house, Champ is going to be alone, but if he's healthy, I take that risk...considering the dropped coverage last week, I just leave Champ on his man and roll to Fox over the top...

Why am I getting nervous when it's only wednesday?

It's been a good year...I think a year we can build on if we can't get thru Indy...

At any rate, it's been a fun ride on the haywagon so far....

Ferguson, he has played great and yet still gets bashed as the "weak link". He is a great run stopper, one of our surest tacklers and isnt a slouch in coverage.

D Veal. I don't know how to spell his 1st name. With all the moves made in the off season on dline he has had a lot of playing time. He had a huge sack on Brees that really turned our season around. He has been in & around on a lot of plays & seems to be a big part of Dline rotation.
