Default Playoff threat

I don't know what anyone else thinks, but many people have written off New England this year. It seems to me that they are quietly getting back on track and with their experience, nobody will want to face them in the playoffs. They'll get one home game, and then go on the road. I'd expect them to win at home, and whoever faces them after that will probably feel pretty uneasy.

I just know that I'd rather face Cinci, Pittsburgh, Jax, KC or SD come playoff time. Indy is still the last team I want to face, however.

Does anyone else besides PatsWin feel the same way? Where has PatsWin been anyway?

I have counted them out and still do. Them beating up on the Bills and the Dolphins and the Jets doesnt mean much to me. Are they dangerous? Yes, but a team with as bad a defense as they have and no home field advantage after round one scares me less than the Bengals.

I think the Broncos can beat New England in Denver, so I'm hoping we end up playing SD after our bye, knock them off, and hopefully NE can knock off Indy...

As a Bronco fan and no homer, I think it will be very tough to go to the dome and beat Indy, especially when I think our secondary is still our main liability (although as of late the d-line is giving them a run for their money)

I'd be pretty shocked if the steelers didn't get that last playoff spot, and there's virtually no way(barring a miraculous collapse) that jax doesn't steal the 5th seed.

Ideally, then, cincy would feast on the steelers and we'd get the young bengals at home and hope that NE can take care of Indy. Although I think a healthy Pitt team might have an equally outside shot at taking down manning.

Actually, I don't think that.

I would rather face NE then almost any team you suggested besides maybe KC...

I think at home we can tear KC apart and NE will not be much different.

The teams that scare me other then the obvious Indy is

Cincy- (we know that champ can cover Chad, even healthy)
San Diego- teams with great TE's always give us way to many problems and they do have LT.
Jags- They have a physical Defense.. And I think we all remember what happen last time when they came in Denver in the Playoffs after we looked pretty good through the reg season..

Denver killed them 38-3 I think as Davis had 199 rushing and Louville had 100 I believe unless I'm thinking of the Dolphins.

42-17, Davis and Loville and Hebron put 315 rushing yards on Jacksonville. The 38-3 game was vs. Miami. Kicked their ass from start to finish. Davis has 150+ in that game.

New england is 6-0 vs teams with losing records, 2-5 vs teams with a winning record. Respect because they are the NFL champion, but no more then that. Even healthy this year, Pats are not themselves.

Yes, I get slightly uneasy.....However, I think we can beat them in Denver again. Watching them vs. KC.....man, there secondary is sooooo bad. KC passed on them like it was nothing.....

And in my opinion, we would again be able to bootleg the hell out of them, as well as have good success running.

On the other side, I think we make them one-dimensional again.....yes, Brady gets that pass offense going, but that's all they'd have against us....even though Dillon is playing again, he just doesn't look NEARLY like he did last year, and I just don't think they could run on us.

well, i mean, it does have the potential to be an historic season. I'd rather hear about denver too, but I understand their reasoning for focusing on Indy.

I am trying to recall if this much attention was on denver when they went 13-0. I dont think their was. The colts are heading for an epic meltdown, and i pray it happens in the playoffs. Nothing would be better then to watch a team go into indi and beat them senseless.

it wasn't really

mostly b/c the Vikings had only lost one game and most people thought that if we played them in the superbowl they would beat us

Dillon is crucial for NE's offense, especially if they play Indy, because to have any chance they need to chew the clock. I'm not really sure if their secondary has made any progress recently. I still don't think they'll win it all this year, but you can't overlook who they are and the fact that Brady has never lost a playoff game.

ive been thinking about this as well.
as far as winning it all, i think they probably are done, but that said, they
could still win a game or two in the playoffs, and indy is EXACTLY who i want THEM to play.

if things shake out the way we expect (which admittedly rarely happens) indy is who the pats would likely play in round two.
i'd like that matchup.
indy is the much better team, but the patsies play indy well.
if the pats could get it done, they could take indy out which would mean a new england/denver afc championship in denver.
sure, everyone would say we didnt have to beat indy, but i dont care.

i want the superbowl, and thats our easiest pass, so that said..

go new england!! (ouch that hurt to say)

New England is the last team I would want to face in our opening game (other than Indy, which would only happen if we were to go completely in the tank). There is just something to be said for the experience they have in the playoffs. They are probably going to be the least talented team to make it out of the AFC (considering their injuries), but they are seasoned, and Tom Brady is magic in big games.

Best case scenario, in my opinion:

-Cincinnati gets the 3 seed
-New England gets the 4 seed
-Both of them to win in round one
-We get Cincinnati and Indianapolis gets New England

I don't care what happened earlier in the year. Indianapolis wouldn't feel comfortable getting New England in the playoffs. If New England could pull an upset, we'd get the AFC Championship at home.

Yeah, we beat 'em so bad their mommas felt it to jump start the "Revenge Tour" on our way to our first Superbowl win!

Bring on whoever. This team can play with anybody.

They are getting healthy at the right time. They are very scary indeed. They are on their way to winning the division and a home playoff game. So seeing them in the second round is definitely a possibility.
