Default Plummer: It is a different guy...

I can't express how impressed I am with Plummer this year. The guy has shed his skin and come out a much wiser snake. But I've read a couple of times "It's the same guy." I just can't fathom that. This is a different guy. A much more thoughtful quarterback.

This isn't the guy who threw a left handed interception from his own endzone. This isn't the guy who floated an easy pick on the goal line against the Chargers, costing us the Division. This isn't the guy who melted down in November and December letting all of his teammates and fans down...

This guy is something different and I'm wholly impressed with his own determined progress, but also in the roadmap that Shanahan and Kubiak laid out for him to get him to this point.

Kudos to Jake. He's made some real strides that can be clearly pointed to this year. He does have some shortcomings that he needs to shore up, particularly third downs. But overall, he's made some tremendous strides, and I couldn't be prouder. The guy deserves the pro bowl this year, and it will be a crime if he's left off the list.

Well we need a cop, caz the crime is about to be committed.

Coming from TJ, this is a very odd "props" to Jake.

!

I know... I've been wanting to start this thread for awhile, knowing that the minute I did it, Jake would go into a two INT game and I'd get blamed for it...

I decided to WAIT until he had a two interception game, so people could see how sincere I am in my props to him. His game has improved a great deal and I couldn't be happier to see it. But don't tell me it's the same guy. It's not the same guy as last year. This guy has IMPROVED.

No way Jake makes the pro bowl. Not because he isn't worthy (he most certainly is), but because everyone outside Denver thinks he sucks. Thats the plain truth of it

He is playing within the system, which is all Shanny wanted him to do since day 1, a punt is better than a pick

that INT in the endzone made me shake my head, considering he probably could've ran it in

but I give you props for speakin' up about Jake

although now I have to revise my prediction

It seems to me that Jake has really reverted back to his form of '03. He missed 5 games, but his yardage was good, his completion percentage was solid, his TD to INT ratio was slightly over 2 to 1 and the team went 9-2 in the games he started.

This year it's pretty much identical. But then that's all anyone with realistic expectations was really looking for out of Jake. Keep the mistakes down, make plays when you have to and win games.

I never understood why the Charger pick was so bad! Rod Smith was in one-on-one coverage. That pick he threw in Arrowhead on Sunday in the red zone was far worse because he had room to run.

Tipped or not, it was a bad decision. He hasn't had nearly as many of those this year as last, but it was still a poor decision.

Bah. I stand by my criticism of him last year. He deserved every ounce of it.

But this year, he's earned praise... And you're not stopping me.

I think a majority of players and coaches around the league respect Jake Plummer's game. They comprise 2/3 of the total vote.

There are some fans who feel he stinks, but Plummer might be the most recognizable player in the NFL who has never been selected to the Pro Bowl. That's amazing in itself.

well done my brother. well done.

you know i personally think this is the EXACT same guy we've had the last couple years (just simply playing a little better), but thats not the point.

the point is that you led the charge in the offseason with the roadblock avatar and a bunch of posts pointing the finger right at jake.

great to see someone man enough to admit when he was wrong.

last week was rotten to the core, but its time to move on and go on another run.
thankfully we have jake to lead us.

All that is true, and very eloquently put.

But I still hold my breath every time he takes a five or seven-step drop. I am hoping this condition eventually goes away, because it can't be good for my blood pressure.

I know how you feel. But even on those long drops, he's making the smart throw if nothing is there. I don't know how many reads he's looking at. I don't care. If he isn't seeing it, he's usually throwing it out of bounds and getting back to the huddle.

Now there's no doubt that third down is not his down. But tell me the last time you saw Plummer take a five or seven step drop on Third down? Playcalling has to do it's job to keep players in their comfort zones. I think that the coaches deserve their fair share of the credit here. But you've got to hand it to Plummer for being coachable and making huge strides in his game because of it. The guy did the homework this offseason, and he's applied it all this year.

I'm not nearly as nervous with Plummer behind center as I was after the Miami game.

Someone had mentioned this before, but there was a lot that went on with Jake off the field last offseason and during the season (leaving fiance at the alter, good friend dying, etc...). This undoubtedly affected his play, and he still threw for 4k yards and 27 TDs (Bronco records).

He has been even better this year. The numbers aren't the same, but the results are better.
