Well Flyer fans, the news is not good right now. 3 of our top starters are out for the foreseeable future. Keith Primeau has been out since mid October and current news has him still suffering from "concussion like syptoms". That has me really concerned. Last time a concussion lasted this long, it was a guy wearing number 88. Keith needs to get healthy but let's not rush anything. I'd keep him out until the last month of the regular season and get him ready for the Playoffs. We all remember what he did the last time there was NHL playoff hockey. he had one of the most dominating playoff runs I've ever seen.
There are wispers that Robert Esche has a "sports hernia". Those are 2 of the dirtiest words around Philly this season. First the starting QB for the Egirls goes down to a sports hernia, and now, the starting Goalie goes down with the same injury. You thinks its tough being a QB with a sports hernia? A goalie may be the worst professions to be with that injury. Keep your fingers crossed that it's not a sports hernia. If it is, Esche could be gone for a LOOOONG time! Peter Forsberg has now missed 4 games with his "slightly pulled groin". Me thinks it's more serious the slightly pulled. Foppa will be back soon though. Even if he's out an extended period of time, I have no doubt this Flyers/Phantoms team will keep pace in the east until he gets back. We are a banged up team right now. Actually, we've been banged up all year and we have kept pace with everyone. It's amazing to see half of this lineup was in the minors last season, including the now starting Goalie, and we are still more then competitive. I can't wait till this teams gets 100% healthy. GO FLYERS!! |

Cool idea for a thread Philly....there are a sizable enough group of Flyer fans here, so why not have our own thread for the team we support?
Primeau's absence has concerned me. To be out that long from a concussion is indeed odd. Now, I'm no doctor and I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night, but concussions don't usually last this long do they? I'm starting to suspect maybe some other ailment that the team has not come public with. Whatever the case, we need him back ASAP. I actually expected Forsberg to be out here and there over the course of the season...this doesn't surprise me in the least. Esche I've always had somewhat of a problem with, as I was never very impressed with the guy's play....he's one of those players who just bothers me for some reason....Of course I want him healthy, but even healthy I'm still not comfortable with him or Philly's goaltenders as a whole. I do like how the team has held their ground despite the injuries....those kids from the Phantoms have been very impressive.....keep it up Boys! |

Here is the deal with Prim's. He didn't suffer a concussion per say. He started experiencing "concussion like symptoms" after a game in mid october. He was getting dizzy spells, headachs and vomiting. They kept him out as a precaution. Now, almost 2 months later, he is still having the same syptoms. That is not good!
I'm with you with Forsberg. there was zero doubt in my mind that he would bounce in and out of the lineup all year due to minor, nagging injuries. I just hope he doesn't suffer a major injury. I can deal with the expected Yo-Yo act during the regular season. I've always like Esche. He isn't flashy but he wins games. He is the equivilant to Jake Plummer for the Broncos. He's not gonna wow anyone with number's or stunning play, but, he will, and has, gotten the job done. The young guns have been fabulous. Mike Richards is gonna be a super player. Jeff Carter has been a slight disappointment to me. He has played solid but I expected a little bit more out of him offensively. RJ Umberger has been a pleasent surprise. He wasn't even on my radar when the season started. With all the injuries we've had he has stepped in tremendously for us. Antero Nittymaki has been hot and cold. He has played great for the most part and then there are times where he looks way out of position. He is still very young but I like what I see so far! From what ive seen of him, Antero Nittymaki is pretty good, so you shouldnt have too much trouble in goal.

Good news and bad news Flyer fans......
Good News: Robert Esche does NOT have a sports hernia. He has a slight tear in his groin (same as Peter). He should be good to go in a week or two. Bad News: Joni Pitkanen will miss up to 6 weeks with an athletic pubalgia (fancy word for Sports Hernia). This one really hurts. Joni has been our second best defensman this season. He will surely be missed. Update on Primeau: He is feeling better and moving around. He hasn't been on skates yet but his "feeling alot better" is a sign of improvement. Flyers take on the Flames tonight at the FUC...... Not a good matchup with our current injury status. however, this team has played great considering the injuries and I expect us to stay with the Flames tonight. I see an OT game tonight. |

I also heard that they said during the Flyers broadcast tonight that Forsberg's groin injury is worse than originally anticipated. They said he may have a partial tear. Hopefully it's not that serious, but you never know with Forsberg.

Okay.... Like I called it in the previous post, the Flyers took a very good Falmes team into OT and came away with a 1-0 shootout victory. Pretty impressive for Nitty to shut out the high powered Flames. Not only did he shut them out, he stopped all 3 shootout attempts.
Great win for the Flyers. Here is something that should impress all hockey fans that do not follow the Flyers. The Flyers current roster is playing with 8, that's EIGHT rookies, including the Goalie. Now, I was excited about this team with the likes of Forsberg, Primeau, Gagne etc..... However, I am even more excited about this franchise's future. I'm not sure how this team is staying with and beating upper echelon teams with 8 rookie's but, somehow they are. On to more bad news...... Eric Desjardins got hurt last night. no news from my end on the injury but he took a mean hit last night and appears to have injured his shoulder or elbow. The injury bug has reared it's ugly head again Flyer fans. Never fear though, we'll just call up another stud rookie. |

WOW!!!!
When it rains, it surely does pour Flyer fans! Bad news on Desjardins: " Desjardins is helped off of the ice by McCrossin during Tuesday's game against Calgary Flyers defenseman Eric Desjardins will miss the next eight-to-10 weeks with a right shoulder injury, according to Flyers Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach, Jim McCrossin. Desjardins will have surgery to repair the shoulder at Hahnemann Hospital on Tuesday, December 13. Desjardins left Tuesday's 1-0 shootout win over Calgary in the first period and did not return. In 18 games with the Flyers this season, Desjardins has two goals and 12 assists for 14 points 18 penalty minutes. Below is the transcript of the conversation with McCrossin. What is the medical update on Eric Desjardins? Jim McCrossin: “Eric Desjardins had an MRI today. Following the MRI, he was evaluated by Dr. Peter DeLuca. The MRI revealed that Eric did have a posterior subluxation of his humoral head. (subluxation refers to a partial loss of the Glenohumeral joint articulation to the extent that symptoms were produced or damage was done. A dislocation is when a complete loss of articulation between the humeral head and glenoid socket occur). When the injury occured it tore both the posteral labrum and the inferior border of the Glenohumeral ligament. After Dr. DeLuca performed his evaluation and reviewed the MRI study it was decided that Eric would require surgery. The surgery is going to be performed by Dr. DeLuca and will take place at Hahnemann Hospital on Tuesday, December 13. We are looking for Eric to miss approximately eight-to-10 weeks." In layman’s terms, was this a shoulder separation or a shoulder dislocation? JM: “This was a posterior shoulder subluxation, which in layman's terms means that Eric has a sprain of his right shoulder and will require surgery to repair the instability that was caused by the injury." http://www.philadelphiaflyers.com/pr...chive/2327.asp |

Terrible news about Desjardins....the injury bug has a hard on for this team it appears. I am impressed with the kids holding it together. Everytime I've seen Nitty in goal (granted that hasn't been much yet this season) I really wasn't floored by him, but I must catch him on an off night or something (like Esche whenever the Flyers get shown in my area). Just gotta keep it held together by rookies and duct tape till some of the guys can make it back....they've been doing well thus far, just gotta keep shining it on......GO FLYERS!!!! |

It's not even duct tape at this point bro. We have the best minor league system in the land. These guys come up and play very well together. This is a very rare thing in all of sports that we are witnessing. Think about it...... 8 Rookies in the lineup every night. That's amazing! 95 man games missed for the Flyers already this season. That's an astounding 3 starters out for every game we've played and we are still 10 games over .500 (16-6-4). This team is not only set up to make a run for the Cup this season, we are also set up to make a run for the next 10 seasons. |

Yeah. I guess I should have posted that news. Forsberg indeed has a slight tear in the groin muscle. They (the Flyers) are obviously gonna take their time getting Peter back. Groins are funny. If you rush back, you could completely tear the muscle and be done for the year. These type injuries need time. No use rushing him back. Especially when you consider how well the young boys have been playing! |

We're kicking ass in this league. Wow, the Sens lost 1 game Buddy, we're first in the east and are what 8 points above Philly with least games played ? The Flyers were lucky that was the Sens back to back game when they faced us. So don't get ahead of yourself and look at the standing, and ass whooooping the Sens handed to your stinking Flyers in the playoffs. |

Out of one side of his mouth, he talks about something that happened 4 years ago. out of the other side of his mouth, he makes excuses as to why the Flyers beat his frog assed team. If he was a normal fan, someone who could bring something to the table like Clockwork Orange, Bronx, Socal, ames, etc, he'd be worth debating. Leave this frog loving scum alone and lets talk real hockey. No sense letting a troll hijack this thread. The ignore feature works wonders when you need it to. |

Rumor has it the B's are looking to fire sale some more good players. Joe Thornton is no longer available .However we will probably be trading Samsonov or Glen Murray for little or nothing in return as our lame duck GM guts a once proud franchise.
