Freeney was supposed to be falling down draft boards (maybe even to Denver!), oop, the Dolts slid right in and scooped him up. He has his weaknesses but the thing he brings as well as Jason Taylor and a couple of others is ENERGY! Relentless attack. Combined with their quickness it makes them monsters, year in and year out. They are also allowed to turn it loose as part of the 'scheme'. This is something I would criticize Coyer for. Early this season I was changing my thoughts on this because Denvers DL alone were causing pressure. Somewhere along the line blitzing has replaced the more and more ineffective DL pressure. I'm of the opinion Pryce should go inside with Warren. That said, Pryce may not be here next year and his roster replacment should be a fellow like Elvis, energy and knack for his job ala DWill. Dwill has had his problems and may even be more exploitable in the future but there is no doubt in my mind as to his ability to sack up and play this game. With passion and knack and skill. Size? Him and Foxy have already shown me enough. I'm not sold on Paymah. They have the ability and they want it. If this is what Dumervil is, get him.
Berry was a go-getter. Pricetag?!? Wasn't keen on Hayward as a passrusher, certainly not at that pricetag, but given his season so far was he not used properly in Denver? I put Reagor in the same boat, as he has played well in Indy. I've asked this before, why do these guys play better away from Denver? It seems to me the DL is trained to 'waltz' so as to not give up big running plays - Corey Dillon? So whomever they draft may not matter if they can't figure out how to use them. True for any position I suppose. There are different ways to succeed. In this case I prefer the '85 Bear approach (who doesn't). Get the people to race to the QB and suck up the RBs TEs and OL along the way. The rules for DBs are stricter but I think it can still be done. Blah blah blah to the choir I guessing. |

The big question on Freeney was a nagging injury that limited him at the end of his senior season and had not healed completely by the combine. Some teams were convinced he would not be able to play his first year.

Doesn't sound so dumb now that Jeb is cut (like some of us knew he would be), does it? |

Oh and yeah, Rascal, I knew. Nobody in their right mind would pay him that kind of money for that little production on a team that is needing to make massive cap adjustments.Sure, Jeb could have restructured, but his agent (who also represents Pryce) didn't want to budge. So, adios Jeb. |
