Play of the Week (By Gil Brandt)
It's a close call between LaDainian Tomlinson 's touchdown run in overtime at Washington and Ron Dayne 's near-touchdown in overtime on Thanksgiving Day at Dallas. Ron Dayne's 55-yard burst might have done more than won a game for Denver. Dayne's run came on a play called Strong Left Zoom 19 Handoff Force. The play went for 55 yards, and Jason Elam kicked a 24-yard field goal on the next play. Two things led to the play's success: Kyle Johnson's block on Roy Williams -- who was playing in the box -- and Dayne's patience. During the season, the Cowboys had allowed only three runs of over 20 yards and none over 30 -- until this play. If Denver winds up getting the AFC West title and a first-round bye, this play shall have been a big key. more here.... http://nfl.com/news/story/9068653 |

Kyle Johnson still isn't he powerhouse FB that can lay the wood on defenders but he does know where to be and gets a block on who he's supposed to. It's not sexy but he's sprung a lot of our long distance runs. He does have a knack though of getting open in the red zone which is always good. I'd like to see him develop as a better pass catcher and more elusive in the open field but I know that's wishfull thinking.
