What makes this game interesting:
Denver has had only one win in Arrowhead in December in its franchise history and Mike Shanahan is a woeful 0-4 in this situation. No matter how strong a team KC is they can never seem to win at Denver in September, and it seems to have held true with KC in december as well. Can Denver squeeze one out? Denver Running Kansas has good talent at Linebacker. Derrick Johnson and Kendrell Bell along with the Chiefs front seven may very well hold up well vs. Denver's running game this week, so don't be suprised. Effort and discipline are key in stopping Denver's running game, the effort will be there but the discipline is still questionable on this KC squad. Denver Passing: Defensive end Jared Allen is fast and if he plays disciplined could give Plummer fits on the roll out to his left. His matchup against Denver OT Matt Lepsis is key and may very well be nuetralized against Lepsis who has been playing at a Pro Bowl level this year. However, KC will likely lineup Allen on the other end against Green and Foster to generate pressure to Jakes strong side. Pressure is key, because Jake Plummer has shown ability to throw inside of the pocket this season when given time. He is no longer one dimentional and may very well "pick apart" a talented Chiefs secondary by hitting savy receivers like Jeb Putzier and Rod Smith over the middle of the field. Kansas City Running: This will be the key in the football game. The interior of the Kansas City offensive line is the best in football. Offensive Guard Brian Waters is now the anchor on a aging chief O-line. He is in fact the youngest of the bunch aside from OT Jordan Black. Between Waters, Wieglemen and Shields, look for this group to perform exceptionally in this game vs. Denver. Gerard Warren Anchors a very big Denver D-line that sits infront of the most athletic Linebacking corps in the NFL. East west running goes out the window but look for KC to run a lot of ISO plays, launching Fullback Larry Johnson straight into a slightly undersized and nicked up Al Wilson and a smaller Ian Gold. Kansas City Passing: Denver's Defensive line is on fire but will be neutralized at its interior by the KC offensive line with something to prove this game. DE Trevor Pryce and DE Courtney Brown will line up all over trying to exploit the edge that OT Willy Roaf won't be occupying. The Rightside features Jordan Black (rotated) and Wellbourn vs. Pryce and Brown (if Rotated) for most of the game, a bad matchup for KC that could force Larry Johnson and TG to stay in to block. Look for Champ Bailey to be all over the field this game trying to bait Trent Green into throwing his direction. Bailey is much healthier than he had been earlier in the season and will seek to create turnovers this game. Look for Eddy Kennison to be completely nuetralized this game but Sammy Parker to set up in a few situations. If Denver can keep from blitzing DJ Williams, then TE Tony Gonzales may very well be shut down this game. In his last game vs. Denver he was inexistent. Key Matchups: S Sam Brandon & DJ Williams vs. Tony Gonzales Pryce vs. Wellbourne Courtney Brown vs. Willie Roaf Wiegleman & Shield vs. Gerard Warren Matt Lepsis vs. Jared Allen Ashley Lelie vs. Eric Warfield Statistics: Jake Plummer: 12/22 208 yards TD Trent Green: 17/31 244 yards TD INT Larry Johnson: 22car 113 yards 2TD Champ Bailey: 3 PD, 1 INT Trevor Pryce: 1.5 sacks, 3 tackles Sammie Parker: 3 rec 80 yards Jeb Putzier: 4 rec 77 yards Final thoughts: This may be Denvers stiffest test so far this season. A win in KC could very well be a steal. Denver had extremely favorable officiating in the first game of the season and i would expect the reffing to tip the other way this game. Look for KC's O-line to get away with what Denver's won't be able to. That could be the difference as pressure on Trent Green will be crucial to keep him from breaking the game open. Return man Dante hall will have something to prove this game aswell and look for him to get a big return this game. KC won't run all over Denver but look for the running games in this game to be a wash as Kansas finally does something no other team has attempted. Line up and punch the broncos in the mouth. Close game that Dante Hall almost breaks open. Denver 27 KC 24 OT |

I predict that the team who scores first will win, and that the Chiefs will be trailing the Broncos by at least a game and a half in the division.

i predict lopsided game, denver 31 kansas city 21, in a game that will be nowhere close to that score. the ending scores will be garbage time and trent has one of his poorer efforts of the year.

Good thread, I disagree about Kennison. He's had good games against Denver for awhile now, I think he will have another good one, especially with Roaf back into the swing of things.

this game usually makes me nervous as hell, but i have a slight better feeling than usual. i believe we will know a lot about denver if we come out looking strong in the first 10 minutes of the game. then it could possibly be decided by a late turnover. i am hoping for denver 27 kc 20
what was that about denver getting breaks in the first game from the officials, i remember pryce getting held on about every play and they only called half of them. just curious as to where this was coming from, its been awhile since september and dont remember all the details. |
