Default 12-4 gets it done?

OK, so let's say we drop a heart breaker in KC this week, then run the table on Oakland, the Bills, and the Ravens. That would put us at 12-3 going into the last week of the season. At that point, I think 12-3 locks up second place, and we rest our starters for the last game, letting the Chargless win (and knocking the Cheaps out of the playoffs, tee hee).

We get another bye week, then get a home game in the playoffs before heading to Indy for the real Super Bowl this year.

To me, this is the most likely scenario. I think this Sunday will be our toughest regular season game of the year, even more so than Dallas. I think the Cheaps D, at home and against us, is capabable of having the same type of game against us. But they have a more effective offense, and are playing for their season every week from now on.

Anyone else see it differently? If we do beat the Cheaps this week, then the race for home field is still on! Go Broncos!

Everything in my head tells me we win this week, which scares me. Just win this week and we won't have to worry about it.

We still need to kick the crap out of the Ravens though because I am sick of loosing to them.

we need to win this week the rest of the schedule scares me. Baltimore has our number for whatever reason. We play in Buffalo at night the long range weather is to be in the 20's with a chance of snow anything can happen there. We should beat Oakland. If we have to go to the chargers needing a win it is a toss up in my opinion. We have to win this week to set the stage for the remaining four games. For what ever reason I have a bad feeling about Buffalo at night

While we have a good record now, we could have just as easily lost the game to SD, Was, & Dallas... while I like this teams makeup we still have a LONG way to go.. counting the Buffalo & Oakland game as a win already is a big mistake... I think the Buffalo game has upset all over it.. you have to admit the ball has bounced the Broncos way a lot this year.. (not so much with the refs) but in general they have had good luck

we can't get overconfident.. I don't like this thread... bad mojo

Lets not even think about this scenario until the time is right, we can talk again IF the Broncos win a playoff game...

I have a very bad feeling about this week.

Roaf is back and played a spectacular game last week. He's the heart & soul of the Chiefs.

Arrowhead is one of the toughest venues in the whole NFL, especially this time of year.

The fans will be deafening and the officials will be paid off.

The Chiefs need this win much more than the Broncos do. If the Chiefs lose, their season is kaput. In fact, the whole Vermeil regime is probably finished. Expect them to give this game everything they've got on every single play.

If the Broncos come out of this hell-hole with a W, I'll consider them serious super bowl contenders, Colts be damned.

Roaf was a MONSTER last week. I was feeling VERY confident about this game until he showed up this past week.

The trick is going to be what our Defensive line does. If our front four dominates then we should hold on for the win but if the Broncos come in scared and try to light these guys up we'll end up in a shoot out and it is going to suck. We don't have an answer for Witten. Gonzo isn't a slacker. This is definitely going to be an ugly game.

bah!!

The only mojo i believe in is OSKIE!!!!!!! Besides that its about what the players and coaches do, not what the fans stipulate.

12-4 should get it done, but i am definitely worried about or remaining schedule. Oak- always tough, Buf - Dec. Cold game, Balt- have our number, SD-Needs a win, and KC - in Arrowhead, nuff said.

If the coaches put Brandon on him like last time, im fairly confident we will be fine.

WARNING: complete homer post with a hint of truth

from the stand point of motivation and sheer "want to" i also have a bad feeling about this game. It truly is KC's superbowl and we are coming off of an emotional overtime win in Dallas. On the other hand we are a much better football team than they are. In all honesty i haven't seen such a complete Denver team since the glory days. Every week someone new is stepping up an making plays... special teams, defense, offense, rookies, and veterans alike. I truley believe we have the best team in the NFL right now (ok i'll stuff the homer glasses... 2nd best team). This game is going to be a b!tch to say the least, but we are a more talented, better coached team with momentum on our side...

Denver 24
KC 13

We certainly can't chalk up any of our remaining games, but a win this weekend would make me feel a lot better about things. I think we'll beat down Baltimore, but Oakland could be dangerous like last year. Buffalo will be tough, but they do have a horrible run defense and are weak at QB. McGahee has been having trouble finding room to run because nobody respects their passing game. Even in bad weather, I like our chances there because we seem to match up very well. Should be an interesting finish in a tough division.

AMEN! Sticking it to the Ratbirds will be good therapy. Will Ray Ray still celebrate tackles when they're 8-10 yards downfield? Probably

I don't think 12-4 will be good enough to guarantee a first round bye. I think 12-4 means we play wildcard weekend.

I've been dreading this game all year long, this is just the type of losss that could send us sliding downhill like the past few years.

I haven't posted much at all this year, mainly cause I don't and won't feel this team is different unless we win this weekend.

WOW! I like your optimism bro.!!

Some Differences
Skins game would be a loss last year.
We lost in Jax lost year, won their this year.
Dallas game would have been a loss last year.
Eagles/Pats- we probably would have split those games last year.
Not losing "trap games so far"
And we are healthy and very good on the DL this year if you havent noticed.

Those are just a few things i feel are different, their are many more im sure, and even a loss this weekend means nada cause we would still be a game up!

The Broncos should just play to win at all times, in all games. Period. No slacking until the Division is won.

I am hard pressed to name any particular characteristic of the Broncos team that is outstanding. For example, Da Bears have a great Dline. Other teams have a "great" this or that. I have not heard people say that Denver has a great Dline or whatever. Yet they win. They just seem to be a solid team, not spectacular.

So, I don't think they can stop playing to win. Will they win this weekend? Dunno. But it is going to interesting to find out.

I also want the win against hte Crows. Bad.

You're right. The Broncos control their own destiny. If we keep winning, we'll win the division. The only reason to worry about what the Mullets and Marty Ball will do for the rest of the season is soley for the purpose of keeping them out of the playoffs.

Truly hope you are right. I do tend to take a pessimist viewpoint, only cause it eases the sting of disappointment. I always get extra nervous before we play at Arrowhead. Plus I don't think I'll ever have faith in Plummer or Lelie.

Still plenty of time for this team to slide though. Do I think it will happen? Honestly no. But it wouldn't surprise me either.

I use to do that, going into a game looking for a loss really does help. But as a fan i realize i have no control and i just look for the best each time.

Their is definitely too much time left for a slide, but also time left for a push to have a long shot at the #1 seed. I choose to hope for the latter.

i was thinking the same.

As stated, the Bears have a great DL, but as a whole, their O is weak, very weak at that, and if you score 14 points, you can win with ease.

12-4 is not a lock for that #2 seed this year folks. The Nati and Pittsburg are both going to keep us from relaxing with that record. We are going to have to front a 13-3 record IMO if we expect that first round bye and #2 seed since I see Cinci only losing one more game.

We're gonna have to either win at KC or SD methinks. Its just going to be too hard to see us go 3-2 from here and expect less.

However, I dont want to see us at 13-3 since we've had terrible luck in the postseason with that record for whatever reason. How bout we go 14-2 and call it a success

12-4 is definitely a home game but the Natti has a cake walk schedule.

If they don't fold they might challenge you...

You know, I listen to the quiet, insistent confidence expressed by the players in their interviews.

I see them pull out wins from close games that in most recent years would have been lost.

I see the lack of serious season-ending injuries that a team has to have to get through a championship season.

I see maturity and leadership in several players, not just the one or two regulars. This is why even our rookie defensive backs and our cast-offs from other teams are playing to All-Star levels.

I see the coaches making sound decisions and choices - this is perhaps the most important of what is different this year.

I see hunger in the players for the victories and the glory and pride that goes with it.

And when I see these things, I get more confident each week, not less. And even though the rest of the league is only just beginning to see this, we have a team that doesn't seem to care what anyone else thinks.

Look at this like the team is looking at it - a special year is coming together.

Screw the Chiefs - and the Colts. They should be getting scared, very scared - after all, they still have to play the Broncos.
