I went to the ASU-UCLA game over the weekend, and I want Marcedes Lewis on this team. He's big, athletic and really goes after the ball. I like our TE's, but I'd love to get a real difference maker at that position.
Any thoughts on where Lewis rates, and other good prospects at the position? How high of a priority will TE be for us? |

Lewis might be the best receiving threat in the draft unless a couple of underclassmen WRs come out. Suspect he will go in the bottom half of the first round. I would not normally think of the Broncs taking him there, but if they don't see any quality at WR, they just might pull the trigger. There are several nice TE prospects, including Klopper from CU and the two from both of the Oregon schools that will probably go in round 3 or so. The kid from Georgia is also great, but I think he would be crazy to come out this year and be a second round pick when he will be a first round 10 - 20 pick next year.

Don't forget about the kid out of Maryland Vernon Davis I think. 6-4 260 in 4.5 range. Is second best college TE out there behind lewis.

Talk is that MD kid might come out. he put on bulk and can block and pass. Would be getting more attention if Maryland had QB. |

Id be very surprised if we went TE anywhere before Round 3 at the earliest. I think Shanny likes the Putz's development despite the fact that he hasnt come on as fast as expected this year and dont forget they like Duke. They kept him on the roster even though he probably wasnt among the Top 53 much less Top 60 or so, and then they hid him on the IR later. Id be very surprised if they went back to the well anywhere early in this draft at the TE position.

I agree, I expect to depth on both line addressed and another running back in the 2nd/3rd before TE. I know Bell, is up and coming but Shanahan goes through back faster then Chef fan goes through excuses. |

Vernon Davis is a lock to come out...he comes from a family with financial difficulty, and is pretty much guaranteed to be a first rounder at this point. He is 6'3" 250+, runs a 4.4 and benches 460+...if we can get this guy in the middle of the first round, I can't imagine Shanny will pass him up. He will be a DIFFERENCE MAKER at the NFL level.

I just finished watching the Maryland-NC State game and Davis is a monster. He reminds me a lot of Gates. Same body type and can really run after the catch. Another player is Mario Williams. This guy is an animal. I would love to see us have a top 10 pick (WAS) and get a shot at Williams (DE), Kiwanuka (DE) or Ngata (DT). We can than use our second pick for the best athlete availbale.
