The photoshop thread made me think of this.

Why are they not allowed here?

I've only been a member since august

, so I assume you all know.
What happened? Something crazy, or was it just slowing the board?

I like them, but they tend to be annoying.

I like them too but I got tired of being the signature police for the few folks who don't know where to draw the line between PG13 and porn. It was a case of the few ruining it for the many. Not to mention the idiots who thought they had to put huge pictures of every player they ever liked in them while posting a smilie as a response to a post. They really started to bring down the board.

They may come back. I just have to figure out a better way to police it so that I'm not getting constant complaints about so-and-so's sig from people trying to visit the site from work... which is where the majority of people access the site from.

We cater to slackers.

One night, while we were all sleeping, mock's sig attacked several other sigs. There was blood everywhere, and Boob almost lost his sig - his proud picture of his mom between scenes of the highly successful erotic film Mrs. Hollands Anus. We just decided that if one person couldn't train his scene to act appropriately, we'd be best to just banish them all.

I've never liked the sig banning. I don't think punishing an entire community for the actions of a few is anyhting close to fair. I can appreciate that the endless porn sigs were a bit over the top but saying "no one gets them" is over borad, not to mention there are still risque' avatars so a lot of good it did, didn't it?

Sigs are such a huge part of posting on a forum and I think with sig bets, adopt-a-broncos and the creativity of our posters that we're missing on a fun aspect of forum posting.

Taco is holding the trottle and that's bottom line...He's the Cap't Kirk of the OM...we haven't crashed yet, and if we do...he will probably build OM2...(altho Meck might of allready copyrighted that)

Speaking for the relatively-slow ISP contingent... bringing back sigs could seriously slow down the page-loading time... which means quite a few of us probably would be forced to turn off most...if not all... forum graphics....

What's wrong with text sigs? I don't think they would slow down the board. If images were used just limit number and size and require they be linked outside the site.

I don't have a slow ISP but i love the speed of the site. I remember with sigs before it would take 5 mins to view a page.

Maybe just have sigs availiable when profile is clicked vs having it on every post? just a thought TJ.

I remember when the sig abuse was running rampant, even with my broadband, it took a couple seconds to load a page. I would have hated to have dial-up. So much of our personalities are in our avatars anyway.
