2. Denver (7-2). I saw Chris Mortensen said on ESPN that he favors the Broncos as Terrell Owens' 2006 landing spot. I favor Dallas, but I like Mort's logic. Like it a lot. One problem: Denver's 2006 cap number as of this month is $117 million. The NFL's cap number figures to be about $90 million. Now, Mike Shanahan can fit anyone into his cap, any year. My only concern is, will he want to screw up his cap (even though Owens won't get rich in 2006) even more than it is for such a risky venture?

Well if anyone can control TO, it's Parcells. Denver won't mind, but TO going to Dallas is a nightmare for the rest of the NFC. Parcells has that effect.

I think $117 million seems a little high for next year, but I've said it from day 1: I just don't see how the Broncos would be able to realistically afford T.O..

Owens should work for nothing till he can prove himself.

I can't see Denver bringing TO onboard, ever. They get rid of divas, they don't keep them.

I hate that we keep bringing up this ballbag. I would like to have a big play receiver for our team. I'm not sure he will be able to act right for a year but if so I say welcome. As far as the price tag, his value went down drastically. He wont get paid big money until he proves himself again.

that sounds about right but that does not count in Lepis, Brown, and some others having the option to either be FA's or released/restructured.

The raiders were $25 Mil over the cap last year when they traded for Randy Moss

And signed Lamont Jordan. And got stuck paying Charles Woodson $10 million this season.

Cap numbers can be deceptive.

I was going to start a thread about Mort's TO thing this morning but figured I'd get lynched!

I saw a segment on ESPN (with the sound down) that showed TO shooting down NFL helmets "80s video game style" until he got down to one. The segment explained why each NFL team wasn't a good fit for him. Denver was the ultimate "winner" after every other team was "shot down".

This whole thing is about TO getting paid. I doubt he'll be playing for 3 or 4 million next year. Some team (Redskins?) will put up the big bucks to land him in free agency.

He might just be a FA this year. It is pretty lame of the Eagles sitting him for the year knowing they are just going to get rid of him. If they want him gone, get rid of him now. But they can just hold him in limbo about of spite.

I wouldn't expect Shanahan to ever have to "b*tch slap" T.O. if he joined the broncos... I see Al Wilson or Trevor Pryce doing it

PS. Keep him OUT

If they sign him, I hope its early enough to cancel next year's direct ticket. That said, I don't see it happening. Adams has hung around just like Rod did. Rod's playing well enought that he may consider hanging around to get HOF numbers. A WR will typically NEVER get ten catches in a game with Den's system. TO gets in shanny's face one time, he'll get the 4 game suspension. He get's in Jake's, and Jake will fight him; in which case Wilson will have to hurt him.

How long and far can we go without a serious WR threat? I want a big play WR on this team. Whether it be TO or some other player. I think if we have one it will do so much for our offense. We have a homerun running back and I think we need a home run WR. It would open our running game up so much.

Like I said If Denver can get T.O. THIS year on a 1 year deal I would do it. Denver can draft a #1 WR next year. I don't want Owens hanging around longer than possible. Bring him in for the rest of the season he'll get his S.B. ring and prove to all the owners he can be a good boy and then he moves on.

You took my idea j/k... I think this is the most perfect scenario for the Broncos.

Yeah this is right. We are huge against the cap next year, assuming all the contracts with options are picked up. Denver will have work to do (as usual) restructuring and finding replacements to those that move on, but Shanny usually finds a way to get what he wants as King points out. It would really help if they could get the new CBA done so the cap would raise to about $100 million.

If Antonio Bryant threw a towel at the Tuna, I can't wait to see what TO would huck his way.

It could go either way. Generally though, Parcells seems to come out on top with these things than say the outcome of the whole Bryant fiasco.

That's using the term "winner" awfully loosely.
