I loved this post.

If that's a true Z, it's probably going to cost more than 20k. You could get a mobile home with a carport with the savings, though.

My kid has that mustang and he's been known to have a mullet...I think I yanked on it when I saw it...it's gone now...I mean I yanked it...that's a beautifull car...we have a '69 SS Nova kinda biding it's time...she was restored once, but she could use a full body off...she can work up a steam, and this car is a freaking legend in this county...it outran 13 cop cars in two states...this isn't bull...it's legendary....it's been partially restored, and a fresh engine put in it...the 482 went onto dirt track action....cars like this are just cop magnets now...as soon as I gave my son the 5.0 he got a ticket...he's just going to store it and make it a show car....these jap rockets go plenty fast and don't catch the cops eye...Drew yanked the crap Ford trottle injection off it put in a Holly double pumper and changed the whole exaust system and now it stinks like a real car! He's a fiddler, so I'm sure he will get it up to snuff...it was only in good, not excellent condition, but could be made so rather easily...

For all the crap we give Chief fans with Camaro jokes, I actually love those cars. My dad's cousin bought a 1969 Z28 with the DZ motor brand new, my dad bought a brand new 1971 Z28 a few years later and I personally would love to have a first, second or fourth gen.

Currently I own a 1994 Mustang GT, got the 5.0 with the 5 speed tranny. It's got close to 210k miles on it but runs like a friggin top and is in great shape, and with just a couple bolt ons ran a 9.521@75mph in the eighth mile. Paid $2700 for it in June of 2004.

I had an '85 Camaro from 1988 to 1993 and while it was ten times better than any Ford or Buick I ever owned, it got recalled so much that I finally got sick of it and dumped it for a Toyota. I turned Japanese and haven't looked back since.

i wouldnt trade my early 20s or my t-top '79 berlinetta for anything. my next car after that was a celica and damn but that car was terrible. i thought i traded into great mpg but my camaro had tons more power and better mpg.
my friend also swore "japanese forever" and his honda had a broken strut from the day he bought it.
i think we all had this conversation in the "ford explorer burns house down" thread. once a person gets burned by a car they never trust that make again. had a 240sx that literally had parts fall off it-the right side mirror for example-just fell off on the highway. while my fathers '79 chevy pickup just keeps running like a timex.

I have a 1993 Celica and it's been the best car I've ever had, hands down. No major repairs as of yet, it reminds me of a Converse Chuck Taylor sneaker....it can't be killed as long as you rotate the tires and change the oil on schedule. Since I have an 80 mile round trip to work, I plan on driving it till it dies (1 full tank of gas gets me thru the entire week....295,000 miles and counting).

You must've got a friday car or something.

Honda's are a bit of a different story. I have a co-worker who has sunk major money into maintaining her's....no way would I get one, I've seen too much.
