Default Does this surprise you about our offense?

It is the number one ranked offense in the AFC......

Over the Colts, Bengals, Chiefs, etc.....

Considering the fact that we've played pretty conservative at times this year and let our defense carry us.......

Does it surprise you that we have the top ranked offense in the AFC so far?

We've racked up a lot of rush yardage. Is this ranking based mostly/totally on yardage?

It is by total offense (yards from scrimmage) which includes passing & rushing numbers combined.

Colts are a close #2 but we are currently number one....

There is a difference between YARDAGE and SCORING OFFENSE...

Though we have been SO MUCH better in the RED ZONE this year!!!

Yes, that does surprise me. Particularly when you recall how the season started.

Believe me I know this....scoring is what wins games not yards....

The 2000 Ravens had the best D I had ever seen....but by yardage they had the number 2 defense behind the Titans....

However the Ravens scoring D was easily number one....

My point on this thread is that it surprised me to see us having gained so much yardage so far...esp since we struggled to move the ball against Mia & S.D.....

Amazing.... didnt think that with our slow start we would be up this far already. Cool tho, hope they keep it up and let the D just pin their ears back and rush the QB.

I believe it is average yards per game.

Now that I look at it it shows both total yards and ypg. Indy has only played 8 games - same as Denver.

I find it odd that you say we've been leaning heavily on the D, yet we're last in red zone defense, and have given more points than virtually every team in the 4th qtr...3 times blowing double digit 4th qtr leads.

What I mean by that is we don't ask Plummer to do as much as we have in the past...throw the ball away or even take the sack if necessary..and let our defense get a shot to keep us in it......

At times our D has let us down but for the most part they've played well

Yes, but not as surprising as being ranked 22 in over all defense and 29 in passing defense.

Can anyone explain why our defense is so horrible on the stat sheets?

It sure doesn't look like that when I watch the games!

That's suprising too me. I thought the Bengals had the best... They have been slumping the last 3 weeks or so.

The defense is stuffing the run and the offense is scoring points getting the lead. This forces the opponents to throw the ball all the time. In fact Denver has been passed on more than any team in the NFL. THat combined with rookie CBs have given opponents a lot of passing yards.

Denver is one of the top teams in the league at pressuring the QB even though they are near the bottom with sacks.
