I have a question to pose to you guys. If Foxworth and DW develop do you think the Broncos consider moving Champ to safty? Before everone tears this idea apart my thinking is this: Most great coners eventually move to safty when they are old and play well. Champ has the ballhawking abilities to make him one of the most dangerous safies in the leauge, perhaps like an Ed Read. As we al know Champ dosn't shy away from contact either. Hopefully Karl P moves into nickle back then.

Good idea, buti dont think so, in a league where 3 WR is so prevalent id rather keep Champ at CB and then just draft a Safety and see how Brandon and Browner turn out.

That's pretty lame Maverick. Didn't realize we were in school.
Regarding the actual post. I personally like the idea of having a "shut down" CB that you can leave on an island, but when champ starts to lose a step or two I think it would be a good move to put him at safety if he can take the punishment. But I would prefer not to wait till then to find a replacement for Lynch...by the time that happens he will be 40. !! |

BTW- this whole thread is lame. Lame thread because of a Lame premise. Lets see how Champ does when not (or only slightly) injured when he actually has had a year in the system to learn it (unlike last year).
This thread is DOOMED, DOOMED I say, DOOOOMMMMEEDD!!!! |

I say we draft Jimmy Williams or Michael Huff and not worry about moving Champ anywhere!

Yeah well it's a pet peeve of mine too but you don't see me correcting everyone's posts. Deal with it, comment, and move on but don't be a dickhead and throw the guy under a bus by correcting his posts. It's a message board not a classroom. And to reply to the post - i'd move Champ in about 2 years before he actually loses a step. He's a good corner and would make a fine FS but give him 2 years or so to put on about 10-15lbs more. |

it was a bit of sarcasm as well.. everytime i try and be the least bit sarcastic or funny on these forums the old men here get their depends stuck up their butts.
Im a moderator on another forum and we blast newbs to high hell if they cant type out stuff properly, we also have fun with it. If the newb can hack it, then thats +1 for him. you need to remove the log from your butt. Last edited by El Guapo; 11-08-2005 at 10:17 AM.. |

I'm more interested in seeing how another converted corner we got in Brandon Browner works out at safety. At 6'4" 220, he was a very physical corner in college who seems like a natural fit at safety (and apparently we weren't the only ones who thought so).
After hurting his wrist in the preseason, he was stashed on injured reserved where he has been able to rehab back to full health and now spends his time watching game film and learning our system - to say nothing of the PT he's doing for rehab. The guy was able to climb from the fourth team to the second in a matter of weeks. It will be interesting to see how he pans out this next offseason. |

remind me how many catched owens had in the first half? none. sure, he caught the 92 yarder, but that was one play, and it was bound to happen when you put him on an island for 3 full quarters. also, does anyone bother to wonder how much champ is a part of these kids' success? williams and foxworth have BOTH said that champs tutelage has been invaluable. lockdown corners are not what they used to be in the nfl, but that said, champ is still great at what he does, he brings experience and leadership, and i think we'll need him down the stretch. this bye week couldnt have come at a better time. lets just hope he's healthy, and i think we'll see alot of good things from him. ...and again, remember every time you watch one of the rookies make a play that some of the reason theyre making those plays is because of what they learned from champ. jake |
