Default Bertrand Berry, done for the year

Cardinals defensive end Berry out for season
By Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com

Defensive end Bertrand Berry, the eight-year journeyman who earned his first Pro Bowl berth with the Arizona Cardinals in 2004 and who led the team in sacks again through the first eight games in 2005, will miss the rest of the season.

Berry suffered a torn left pectoral muscle in Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and will be placed on injured reserve later this week. He may be able to avoid surgery, but even if that is the case, Berry faces months of rehabilitation.

The injury, which occurred in the fourth quarter, is the latest setback for an already thin Arizona defensive line. Former first-round draft choice Calvin Pace, the Cardinals' No. 3 end, was lost for the season when he sustained serious lacerations to his forearm in an accident at his Atlanta-area home during the Cardinals' bye week. With Pace and Berry out, Chike Okeafor is the last of the team's top three defensive ends still playing.

man the Cards just can't get a break.....EVER

That sucks for Berry. I thought for sure old Glass Warner would be on the bench by now.

Sorry to hear that. He is a class guy. At least it is an injury that should heal just fine by next year. Cards are done anyway.

Karlos Dansby is their best defensive player. I would take Rolle or Dockett over Berry, too.

Yeah, it was real classy the way he blasted the Bronco organization on his way out the door. Especially since he hadn't done jack**** his first four years in the League, until Shanahan gave him a chance and our coaching staff developed him.

Never did understand the split. 1. I thought we shoulda signed him longterm. 2. Didn't see why he had a b**** since, as Slap noted, Shanny drafted the guy and let him have 3 years of conditioning and coaching to become an NFL player.

And, what is this with torn pecs? I read about this all the time. Torn pecs? WTF?

That's right. My bad. I thought he was younger than he was too. After you posted, I thought back and I seem to have thought he'd basically been on a PS with somebody for a year or two, but he has some years on him.

Maybe you get torn pecs from going from 245 to 275.

I think one way a torn pec occurs for defensive linemen is when they reach out and try and arm tackle a back who's running past them.
