I've been dying to ask this for years (2):
How old are you guys/girls and where in the hell do you work that allows the time dedicated to the OM Some of you are on this site all day? Note: you don't have to make it too personal, just give me some idea of age (range, ie: 20-25) and occupation (no entity names). Sorry if it's already posted somewhere but it is 'bye' week and I need to shape my future career according to some of yours obviously. I don't get paid by the hour but I'm curious to see who is 'the most 'unprofitable' profitable poster on the OM (multiply hours per week spent on OM at work x hourly wage and just give me a total? or not?) |

Why I'm On Here So Damn Much: 1) I procrastinate. I'm doing it now actually. I'm at home with homework to do, yet I'm here. 2) I have a joke of a job on campus, it's an information desk, and I just sit on my laptop, do homework, etc. 3) My classes require me to bring my laptop and be connected. And instead of listening to what the teacher has to say, I post here, shop on eBay, and read ESPN.com 4) Since I go to classes, I don't work a 9-5 or anything. If I don't have a class until 1 on a particular day, you might find me here that morning. |

29 years old. Have been a mechanic for a number of years and just spent 6 months in Cali on a private contract repairing military vehicles for the National Guard to do their training in before they shipped out to Iraq. The contract ended and now I'm back home building computers and doing doing part time theater work. I'm waiting to hear back from a guy that has started his own company so hopefully I'll have another full time job. The wife is a nurse so if I'm out of work for a bit, she can more than cover everything.

I'm 36 and I own my own marketing business.
I don't spend that much time on the OrangeMane. I have to keep disciplined so that it doesn't cut into quality time that I set aside for fantasy football. |

Substitute Childcare teacher...and of course, I have another reason to hang around here during the evening.

38 - QA Engineer for internet stuff.
I'm online all day anyway. I can be launching code from one browser and posting on the Mane in another. Therefore, my internet work and internet fun time are totally woven together. I'm actually working right now. |

35-I work in the office of a construction company. Most of the time that I'm on here during the day, I'm waiting for a labor report to generate. That's MY idea of multi-tasking...

Don't post a lot but I'm lurking since years. IT project engineer @ 41 euros/h. Don't spend that much time during work on the Mane, as I live in Europe it's not really that busy during my working hours. But I do read all the daily new articles in the DP,RMN etc. and the newspapers of the enemy of the given week ( starting point is always http://www.prosportsdaily.com/nfl/nfl.html ). I guess it's about 1 h per day at work I spend doing this. I'm not neglecting work for it, as I only read when I have nothing else to do. |

Let's crunch the numbers - How about this: Number of total posts X rep points % time online = "P.E.R." . . . or "Poster Efficiency Ranking" Now I don't claim to have ALL the answers . . . I admit that one week, my rankings might have SoCal ahead of the Texas posters, while the next week it's the other way around. But I do know one thing: Our rankings damn sure won't allow Bitter Tom Osborne's spite-vote to put Georgia Tech ahead of our Buffaloes! ___________________ What the heck is he talking about? I have no idea. I don't get it either You think maybe he's 'drinking' . . . like that "snake" guy everybody attacks? |

I am 25. I am a very large procrastinator as well I will sometimes be posting on here in class, but I try not to. All my classes are blocked pretty close to gether so once I am done for the day, I can do whatever. That is, when I am not working one job for 20 hours a week, doing my work study for another 8 hours, planning a wedding, coaching a soccer team, and trying to maintain my 3.57 while taking 18 credit hours. Hence the reason my posts come in spurts. I also live in a van down by the river! |

I’ve always assumed most everyone on the main board was fairly normal. Sure some people drink more than others and some spend their free time in different ways; but overall fairly normal.
Now, this thread would be a whole lot more interesting if you could dredge up some answers from the politics forum. |

In grad school-between that and the research work I do, I am in front of the computer a lot. So therefore I use OM as a study break... |

I work for NY State in emergency services....there's lots of down time in that job, so here I is.
It's a job where if there's no action, that's a good thing for everyone.....no one is getting hurt and nothing is going wrong...we're allowed a few liberties and this is one for me. Age? It's not how old you are but how old you can pass yourself off as that really matters.....I'm shining my youthful appearance on for as long as I can, believe me ![]() |

WAN/LAN IT Manager (Routers & Servers only no managing people!) I pop in throughout the day as time permits when waiting on tasks to complete. I work late hours so I don't mind spending time here. I won't give you a hard dollar figure but it is in the $75-$90k yearly & Salaried, no freaking Overtime. |

East Coast Regional Sales Manager for a Consumer Product Company If I'm on the road (2-3 days/week) I don't visit the Mane until I'm in my hotel room late at night. If I am working in my home office (the other 2-3 days/week), I usually have 2-4 windows open all day (O-Mane, ESPN Radio, CNN.com, etc.) In an office people make lots of visits to the Water Cooler and bathroom. To the home office worker, this is our equivalent. |
