5 Denver Broncos: The Broncos go to their bye week with a 6-2 record and atop the AFC West. They are doing things the Denver way: running the football. 15 San Diego Chargers At. 4-4, the Chargers are scraping and fighting to stay in the playoff hunt. As long as Antonio Gates is catching passes and Tomlinson is running the ball, they might actually overcome a tough schedule to get there. 17 Kansas City Chiefs Who said the defense was fixed in the offseason? It sure doesn't look like it. This is the same old Chiefs. 18 Oakland Raiders The Raiders are 3-4 and have won two consecutive games to get back into the playoff talk. The defense is starting to play better, which is a good thing. |

I love being the best running football team in the league running the ball being known as the "Denver Way" (that's one way to try to replace Elway!) Old but true cliche: Running the ball is the formula for success in the NFL: past, present and future.

The Chargers have played a tough schedule, but our schedule hasnt exactly been cupcake either but we have exceled.
4 TD's and over 300 yards and we are sill considered a running team only, awesome! |

It's great that Shanny specifically planned to augment this offense by bringing in Plummer to commandeer the boot ala Elway. It's also interesting that a west coast offense guy has developed a seemingly unparalleled offensive system for running backs. Shanahan's influence on NFL offense will be felt for years to come. Atlanta is only the first high profile offense to copy Shanny's system. We really are lucky to have such a legendary coach in our midst. Eventually the media really will figure out that this guy is not a Lombardi clone or someone that is comparable to another legend, but Shanny is a guy that will be getting the comparisons in the future after he retires. |

ESPN rankings out:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/powerranking I can't see how the steelers are ahead of us, they almost lost to an injury decimated ravens team that wasn't good to begin with |

we're actually a balanced team as far as how we attack. this season, in the first half we throw 56% of the time and run 44%. in the second half, we run 54% and throw 46% (the conservatism was part of what was getting us in trouble). i believe (as do alot of people) that we throw to set up the run, but in the end, we actually throw as much or more than we run. jake |

If the Chargers didn't play half their games like those old Schottenheimer playoff games they might be higher but but right now I'd really love to see Denver and Indy play because the Broncos are as close as anyone in the AFC.
I just can't believe we lost to the Chiefs... ![]() |

ESPN has us at #3 behind the steelers and Indy. I dont put much into these rankings but it's nice to see we are starting to make some noise around the league.
Yahoo also has us #3. NFL.com has us #2. |

We will undoubtedly fall next week during our inactivity. While those power rankings are fun to read and banter about, they really mean very little. Whats more important is getting a home play off game.
