Default Culpepper Out For Season

CULPEPPER OUT FOR SEASON
Daunte Culpepper will miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury.

Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Tice confirmed on Monday that his star quarterback has a torn ACL, MCL and PCL in his right knee.

Culpepper suffered the injury following an 18-yard run on the final play of the first quarter in Sunday's 38-13 loss at Carolina when was hit by cornerback Chris Gamble.

Tice also said on Monday that Culpepper would undergo surgery in the near future.

It ends a dismal season for Culpepper, who threw for six touchdowns and 12 interceptions in seven games. He completed 139-of-216 passes for 1,564 yards.

Culpepper was one of five quarterbacks taken in the first round in the 1999 NFL draft when he was selected 11th overall by the Vikings out of Central Florida.

With Culpepper sidelined, the Vikings will turn to veteran Brad Johnson at quarterback.

Johnson, 37, is in his second stint with the Vikings. He played his first five seasons with the Vikings before being traded to Washington in February 1999 for three draft picks.

Johnson moved on to Tampa Bay, where he guided the Buccaneers to a triumph in Super Bowl XXXVII in January 2003.

After replacing Culpepper on Sunday, Johnson went 13-of-28 for 162 yards and a touchdown.

Culpepper, Favre has had every single one of his skilled players get hurt at one point, and still manages to keep it close. Culpepper on the otherhand has just sucked the entire year, 7 ints in the first two games!! I think it was fate's sympathy that he blew out his knee!

During the offseason.

Favre has lost his #1 WR, #3 WR, #1 RB, #2 RB, and TE all within the first 8 weeks.

In fact I may go pick up a Packers players just to stash on my fantasy squad the way things have been going with them. Who is after T Fisher and Chatman?
