Default The offense has not converted more than one third down in the fourth Q of any game...

Wow. That's an incredible stat.

Thanks to Mediator for the leg work on finding this one.

Wow.

Update: the stat is wrong. We've actually converted 5 of 26.

However, they have taken double-digit leads into the fourth quarter of the PAST FIVE games.

Keep using "legwork" to find those helpful stats, though.

Popps has a point that double digit lead should be enough.

But only 1 third down conversion is NOT enough!!

Both side of the ball stall when they are in the fourth quarter.

But the defense just collasping in the fourth is baffling.

So you think it's okay to sit back once you get a lead and keep the defense on the field for an entire half... good luck finding somebody to support that arguement!!! I don't care how good the D is... if you force them to stay on the field the entire 2nd half they are eventually going to break. They've held off for three weeks in giving up a game... we've been testing them and they finally failed. Time to quit giving them the same test every week!

only converting 1 3rd down is very concerning..........

there are many aspects to this team that lead me to believe we are a smoke and mirrors team right now

If the officiating had only been "poor" there would be none of these discussions today.

I'll add that we've forced five fourth quarter turnovers this season.

what's also "wow"-worthy(not sure about 2 wows though):

The D has pretty much the same success rate. They only stopped Miami* on 3rd down twice in the 4th quarter and SD too.

There's basically no difference.

Aw what the hell: wow, again.

*=this probably says something about how offenses work when they have a lead, no?

I'll add that we haven't turned the ball over in 5 games on O. Also, isn't it strange how our only O-turnovers came from when we were behind?

Hmm, so maybe O really does help D.

wowwow.

that's another good point

I'd like to know the defenses 3rd down % against it too, I'm sure it's just as bad

we have problems on both sides of the ball in the 4th qtr and it is going to cause our season to go down the toilet again

I should have checked this before I posted it... I count three third down conversions against San Diego.

there were 2, the third you're thinking of might be the dayne run on 4th down

Hopefully that trend continues, because the O needs help.

Oh, you're right... Dayne didn't get that third. It was converted on the fourth down.

If you wanna talk about defense, I think you should count the scores they allowed in those particular quarters rather than conversions.

But still, it's wrong. We converted a 3rd an 1 against Washington

3-1-DEN40(10:54) T.Bell left end to DEN 42 for 2 yards (M.Washington; R.Clark).

I don't count penalties as a conversion. They're good for us, but we're not getting them based on execution.

No I totally agree. I'm sorta knocking the D in what I'm saying.

I counted twice... It's five. Four interceptions... Two by Bailey. One by D. Will. One by Foxworth... And a forced fumble by Al Wilson.
