Default Does IR rollover into the post season?

I read an article about Takeo Spikes saying If the bills make it in the post season he is going to play. I'm not sure about how that works

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...v=ap&type=lgns

Here's the article.

I thought once on IR, you are lost for the full season.....I always related it to getting herpies. Once there you can't get rid of it...

Lost for the season, but once the season is over, you can come back. The playoffs don't count as the season. At least that's always been my understanding.

(In my best Johnny Carson voice)..."I did not know that..."

Maybe we can get Browner back if we still need him. He's not a critical element unless more secondary goes down.

I had always assumed that IR meant gone until next season but I don't really know. I don't even know where to check it out.

Don't you just have to free up a roster spot if you're activating someone off IR?

Well I can't remember a single player coming off IR to play in the post season, or it ever being discussed honestly.

I think they SHOULD be able to...but I dunno Taco.

I think that is because most of the time, the injury is so bad that they can't make it back for any postseason play. Hell, I'm not really sure. I don't even know if it has even been atempted. Someone will find out.

Wasn't Trevor Pryce on IR last season? He could have come back to play in the Indy game if he felt up to it.

no he never was put on the IR, we still had hope he would come back and save our season

he tried to play in the Colts game..last game of the year, but could only play a couple of plays

regardless, the question we should pose is, why would you want to activate someone on IR right before the playoffs. They will not be in game shape to play. No matter how bad the replacement, he's going to have the edge, as he's been playing full speed during the time hurt boy has been out.

I don't like the way IR is structured...players should be able to come back after week 8 or at least the playoffs.
