And though we had no official sacks(although i could of sworn i saw one) we got so much pressure. Brunell was forced to throw it away all day.
With 2 rookies starting on the o line for NE i think the dline can have a field day Last edited by OrangeShadow; 10-15-2005 at 04:59 PM.. Reason: test thing |

They had Brunell rolling out every play because the line was getting good penetration. His feet and intelligene kept him from taking sacks. I he threw how many balls away? A ton that I remember.

And that pressure was delivered with lousy footing on a wet field

I really think we will win going away this week and this coming from a guy who was nervous as hell against Washington.

Warren should have two more sacks but they have been called back.

Washington was feast or famine in their game with us. Mostly famine. They had some big plays in good circumstances that benefited them greatly in the game. The yards don't really do justice to the defense's credit. Brunell had lots of time to throw on some plays, but they were all plays when there was no pressure designed. 3 or 4 men rushing the passer and even in the times that he had all day he needed all day to find someone open.
Our corners and secondary in general and especially our LBs, did a fine job in that game, despite the final score and yard totals. Likewise, I think I finally have found some hope in the offense of not only being better, but being a lot better. I watched that game, and every game but the KC game (as I dont have it) a few times and in every case I am seeing the same thing. Lack of execution. By most of the players, even Rod Smith. The running game is about the only ones producing at this point and that is obvious from the stats, but what the stats don't show is that ALL of our receivers, from the best to the most inconsistent have failed to catch the passes Jake threw that were catchable in about 30% of the times. Further, of that 30%, (rough numbers, I didnt actually count them, I dont have that much free time) about 40-60% of the passes would have gotten at 5-10+ yac. Further Jake has shown some signs of improvement (wet ****ty weather aside, he did throw some nice passes in Washington) of getting in sync with the receiving corps. If that continues, and the mistakes are continually minimized like they have been, and the receivers as a whole unit get their collective head out of their ass, well....something wicked this way comes. Jake improvement (slow, but steady, without sacrifice to keeping mistakes down) + receiver ability to catch passes + already dynamite run game + kick ass defense = Well...you do the math. |
