NEW ENGLAND @ DENVER SUPER PREVIEW
![]() Riding a four-game winning streak, the Denver Broncos (4-1) host the defending Super Bowl champions on Sunday when the New England Patriots (3-2) visit INVESCO Field at Mile High. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. MDT. Denver is coming off a 21-19 home victory against the previously unbeaten Washington Redskins. Linebacker Ian Gold broke up a Redskins two-point conversion pass attempt with 1:09 remaining in regulation to seal the victory for the Broncos. Denver has won its last five games against Super Bowl participants from the previous season and has earned a victory in 13 of its last 16 games against New England. The Broncos have a 10-7 (.588) record against defending Super Bowl champions, including a 6-2 (.750) mark at home. Denver leads the all-time series against the Patriots 22-15 (.595) and owns a 14-8 (.636) home record against the club. The teams last faced each other Monday Night Football in 2003 with the Patriots earning a 30-26 victory in Denver. New England enters its game with Denver after defeating Atlanta 31-28 last week at the Georgia Dome. Kicker Adam Vinatieri’s 29-yard field goal with 17 seconds left in regulation provided the game-winning points for New England. BAILEY'S STATUS QUO, as of Wednesday Another week of practice for Champ Bailey began in the same situation as last week -- with him questionable on the injury report, on the field for the day's work, but not running at full speed. "I think it's probably the same question and probably the same answer as last week," Head Coach Mike Shanahan said as he greeted local media following Wednesday's practice, keenly aware of the question that was perched on the lips of all those with microphones and tape recorders. "He's getting some practice time in, but until he tests his hamstring, we won't know for sure." Bailey tested the hamstring prior to Sunday's 21-19 win over the Washington Redskins, but was ruled out for the game, missing a second straight contest after playing in 102 consecutive regular-season and postseason games from 1999 through Week 3 of 2005. A further effort will be made to test the tender left hamstring Friday. Until then, he'll continue to work on a limited basis. "He'll get a feel for what he can do," Shanahan said. "We don't know until he tries to push it full speed. Friday, we'll try, but it there's any type of twinge or anything, he's not going to do that -- for obvious reasons." Bailey didn't talk Wednesday, but when he discussed the injury Monday, he was in good spirits, but didn't know much about whether he could play or not. "I'm always optimistic I'm going to be out there, but it's a day-to-day thing," Bailey said then. "I can't guarantee anything." ![]() SHANNY'S RESPECT FOR BELICHICK Not many football observers were willing to place New England head coach Bill Belichick among the game's best coaches when he was hired to coach the Patriots in January 2000; his only previous head coaching experience saw four losing seasons in five years with the Cleveland Browns. Shanahan, though, saw something special in him. "I'll be honest with you. They asked me a question a number of years ago, and Bill had just got the job. They asked me to name three coaches if I had to rank them. I said, 'I had three guys that I like – Bill Cowher, Jeff Fisher and Bill Belichick,'" Shanahan said. "They asked me why. I just said, 'I just like the way he did as an assistant coach.' "Everybody mentioned the Cleveland job. I just kind of laughed. I said, 'I don't really care what happened at Cleveland. I just know what type of coach he is.' Obviously, the rest is history, what he's done in New England. Sometimes you can get put in a tough situation. I can’t speak for him, but I think what he's done speaks for itself." ![]() PRACTICE UPDATE, as of Wednesday Every Broncos player on the 53-man roster practiced Wednesday, including Roc Alexander, who was the only player to sit out each practice session last week ... The team moved over to the FieldTurf surface for the day's work, as some of the Monday snowfall still covered parts of the team's two grass fields ... New England listed 18 players on its injury report. Of those players listed, only quarterback Tom Brady did not miss at least a portion of practice. THURSDAY NOTE: Champ Bailey did not practice Thursday ![]() HealthOne INJURY UPDATE, as of Thursday Q= Questionable, P= Probable, D=Doubtful, O=Will not play, *=Did not practice DENVER CB Roc Alexander, Hamstring, Q CB Champ Bailey, Hamstring, Q* LB Louis Green, Hamstring, Q RB Tatum Bell, Toe, P G Cooper Carlisle, Ankle, P S Nick Ferguson, Hand, P NEW ENGLAND RB Kevin Faulk, Foot O* T Matt Light, Ankle O* CB Chad Scott, Shoulder Placed on IR O* LB Monty Beisel, Finger Q* LB Tully Banta-Cain, Knee P* QB Tom Brady, Right Shoulder P* WR Troy Brown, Foot P* LB Matt Chatham, Knee P* RB Corey Dillon, Ankle P* CB Randall Gay, Ankle P* DE Jarvis Green, Shoulder P* DE Marquise Hill, Ankle P* LB Larry Izzo, Thigh P* P* LB Willie McGinest, Finger P* CB Tyrone Poole, Ankle P* S James Sanders, Ankle P* S Guss Scott, Knee P* DE Richard Seymour, Knee P* CB Duane Starks, Thigh P* ![]() All information from www.denverbroncos.com. I don't think he will be out. It's not like Bailey to be deactivated twice in a row. Actually, I'm actually making that more on hope

yeah 3...
but that's kinda funny how it's the same every week. every week fridays on denverbroncos.com they're always talking about how pumped up Champ Bailey is or how he's not going to feel the pain at game time, with an added quote "I'm ready to go". And then he gets deactivated. |
