Default Trade Advice: Roy Williams and Frank Gore for Reuben Droughns

The guy in my Diamond League who lost Deuce McAllister just offered me Roy Williams and Frank Gore for Reuben Droughns.

I have Edge and Steven Jackson in the backfield and soon to be paroled Travis Henry and Brandon Jacobs on the bench, so I can spare Reuben, who figures to wear down as the year goes along, given his running style.

My WRs are Holt, Lelie and injury plagued Michael Clayton, so Roy Williams would be a nice addition to the rotation at WR2.

I guess it comes down to Roy Williams' health, (I'll accept that he has a crappy quarterback). Anybody heard about this quad problem? What do you think about him heading forward?

All sincere input is appreciated. Amatuer comedians are okay, too. Misinformation from people trying to screw me is cool, too.

I'm crazy if I don't exploit this guy's desperation, right?

It's a pretty even trade actually. Gore isn't getting that many touches and isn't worth that much in San Fran to begin with. Alex Smith won't be able to keep defenses honest and even if Gore were to start wouldn't put up more than maybe 6 points per game.

Roy Williams is a tough call. Honestly you have to look at him in the same light as Andre Johnson. Incredibly talented but the QB can't get the ball to him. I know it's different reasons in Houston vs Detroit, but the end result is similar.

I'll put it this way. You said a week ago that I should make the trade for Andre Johnson (packaged deal). Roy Williams has the same amount of upside and probably more b/c Harrington atleast has a little time to throw the ball!

What's Droughns going to give you. 9 points per game. I say pull the trigger or go after a TE or D instead of Gore... if you can improve at either of those positions in the process!

SoCal's buddy will get waived immediately, as there's no room for him on the small CBS rosters. Garcia is due back at some point, right?

I don't know you have some bye week issues coming up soon with Edge and Jackson and that would force you to start T Henry or Jacobs. If you feel okay doing that I would pull the trigger. Eventually Joey will start playing better or Garcia will start (should be ready by week 8 last I heard). When that happens Roy should perform better.

Roy Williams, as quoted in SI.com:

"Right now the receivers don't have any trust or confidence in the quarterback and the quarterback doesn't have any trust or confidence in the receivers.''

That's going to really endear him to Harrington. (Maybe it earned some brownie points with Jeff, though.)

So far as Droughns goes, keep this in mind. Green has sucked to the highest degree. He's been completely pathetic and the Browns are reportedly shopping him around. Suggs is out for at least 4 more weeks and it's a safe bet he'll get hurt again within a week or two of his return. So the Browns do like Droughns, who is helping them in ways beyond sheer yardage (receiving, blitz pickups, etc.) Ironically, Cleveland is one of the few teams not running an RBBC these days.

Your RBs might look good at the moment, but injuries can hit anywhere and change that in a flash.

Just say no.

Man, OD, you're getting me tight-assed now.

The unproductive duo of Clayton and Lelie are killing me at WR2, but you raise a lot of good points.

Indecision ****s with me.......

I hemmed and hawed until he pulled it off the board. Hopefully Clayton will come back strong after a week off plus the Bucs bye week.

This guy is in full panic mode over his backs. He has Shaun Alexander and Brian Westbrook, plus four really low level scrubs. He was offering me Roy Williams and his only two other wideouts are Drew Bennett and Antonio Bryant.

Well he needs to relax then. Giving your opponents a sense of your desperation is not going to help you get a good deal.

He has two stud RB's. If he really feels the need to get more depth at RB, he can trade Alexander for a #1 and a #2/#3. Just a matter of finding somebody who has that kind of depth.

I feel good about the SJackson/Edge combo in the Diamond League.

The backs in my Geek League are steadily improving. I think they've progressed from utterly laughable to well below average.

All that gon' change, though. The Buffalo Soldier comes back this week.

I wonder what Stephen Jackson's workload will be like the next month and a half. Martz being gone...the playcalling has to get better for Jackson...RIGHT?

So I'm not the only one who Clayton is killing?

Sheesh my WR's are totally kicking me in the rear. With Horn being hurt half the year and Clayton's problems!

Thankfully, my number one WR is Torry Holt, so I could start virtually anybody at WR2 and still have pretty solid production.
