Too many of those "Top 10 Pairs" were both halfbacks/tailbacks! . . . a couple of pairs barely played together!

Maybe I'm biased (gosh, ya think?), but in terms of classic TB/FB combos - no Top 10 could be accurate without mentioning 96-97-98 Terrell Davis and Howard Griffith.

Sorry, SI . . . you blew it!

absurd with Dunn/Alstott being ahead of Riggins/Washington.

You're not biased, you're clueless. They're not talking about a running back and a blocking fullback combo. They're talking about a pair of RBs that split the rushing load.

Griffith wouldn't qualify, becuase he barely touched the ball.

Surprised they didn't mention the 49er's of the 1950's.

John Henry Johnson
Joe "The Jet" Perry
Hugh McElhenny

All three are Hall of Famers

Spearking of the 9er's Roger Craig and Tom Rathman were a hell of a combo...Rathman didn't carry the ball much but was very productive catching the ball.

I wonder if Kiick has seen this. He'll be pleased, in his weird sort of way.

Sammy Winder and Gerald Willhite?!

Rob Preston and Rob Lytle?!

Otis Armstrong and Jon Keyworth?!

Floyd Little and Bobby Anderson?!

Bo Hickey and Gene Mingo!!

WHOA!

Look closely at that Bo Hickey card . . . although Bo is wearing an orange jersey - the Broncos logo in the corner is that butt-brown and sick yellow! . . . the old Copper Bowl uniforms - with THE VERTICAL STRIPE SOCKS!!

That card must be a 1963, right? Because they dumped those colors and that logo after 62 . . . is that right anybody?

Zonk is obviously loved in Miami and he's an all time NFL great. One of the all time tough guys, too. When he tore his knee, his ACL was too tough to snap, so it just broke away from the bone.

Kiick and Morris both started out great, but ran into problems. I would say they had comparable careers. Morris was more talented, but the drug problems really derailed his career. Still, Kiick made two Pro Bowls early in his career. He was a very versatile back. Kind of an introvert, though. My best friend knows him pretty well.

8. Barry Word/Christian Okoye, Chiefs
This duo is certainly the biggest pair on the list. Both Word (left) and Okoye topped 250 pounds and Chiefs coach Marty Schottenheimer loved to pound defenses with a heavy dose of both backs. They carried the ball over 200 times apiece in 1990, combining for 1,820 yards.
Wow! They almost had as many yards as Terrell Davis in one year!

Hickey's TD per touch ratio is one of the all time greats....5 TD's with only 80 touches is very impressive. If the Donks knew what they were doing they would have gotten him a lot more carries. Should have been a legend.

Yeah, right up until old #27 knocked Okoye back to Nigeria. Shortly after that, he decided that he really didn't like football too much. "Foodball ben berrry berrry bad por me."

Good point. How many movies were made about the Word/Okoye duo?

I could write it for them if they wanted--

Okoye: I am from Nigeria. Dey bring me here to play with football

Word: I will play for seven seasons on 4 different teams and only surpass 1000 yards once.

Okoye; I just hope we don't play de Broncos again. Dat Atwater hit me hard.

Word: I love you Okoye (Fade away to them walking into sunset.)

You have to remember, they were all pretty drunk most of the time back then.
