I read through the Power Ranking thread and observed a lot of good Bronco fans dismissing our #2 rankings as undeserved.
My 1st reaction was on point with a lot of those people as well, until i was able to really reflect on it while waiting for my dog to find the perfect "spot" this afternoon. For now i'll throw Miami out of this equation, but i think that its fair to say that Miami is at least a little bit better than most of us and the analysts thought they would be this year ( Beat us and Carolina so far ). They look like a legit 7-9 / 9-7 team. The teams we beat: San Diego: Last weeks "Hot" team Record/ 2-3 Kansas City: Week 3's "Hot" team Record/ 2-2 Jacksonville: Solid team Record/ 3-2 Washington: One of this weeks "Hot" teams ( incidentally due to the fact that they showed some heart against us ) Record/ 3-1 Add up all their records and they are 10-8 Just a little better than mediocre until you figure in the Bronco games. If you subtract the 4 losses due to just the Denver Broncos and those 4 teams are 10-4 Teams that the Quartet have beaten: Oakland (KC) NY Jets 2 times(KC) (JAX) NY Giants (SD) NE Patsies (SD) Chicago (WAS) Seattle 2 times (WAS) (JAX) Dallas (WAS) Cincinatti (JAX) The only team that is certified horrible from that list is Chicago ( The Jets were still w/ Pennington and considered "strong" vs KC and most of JAX ). In fact all of these teams outside of CHI are/were considered playoff contenders at some point (Oakland by many and the Jets before all of their QB's arms exploded) Other teams that have beat SD, KC, JAX, or WAS INDY beat JAX DAL beat SD PIT beat SD PHI beat KC All of these games were real close on top of that. Of those 4 teams ... Dallas is considered solid, while the other 3 are considered elite. Bottom Line: IMHO we "Deserve" our high ranking due to our success against a pretty respectable strength of schedule so far. Will it last past Sunday? I don't know, but for now i really feel like this team should be in that elite class where its being included. Last edited by easymobee; 10-13-2005 at 01:03 AM.. |

My main concern is actually bad weather games. We looked awful against WA and I think the weather was the sole reason. Up to that game we had put together 10 qrts of dominance. We survived the game, which was a boon. Now we need to go forward and get back into the zone we were playing before. Just seems wierd that we get are highest ranking after our 2nd worse performance.

Weather always favors the underdog, and the fact is we won. We beat a team that no one else has beaten in conditions that stacked the cards in their favor. This isn't the BCS, where style counts for more than substance. Wins are wins here, no matter how pretty they are.

That fluky Blocked Punt and the 1st defensive hold on Paymah ( bad call IMO ) made it into the game that it was. |
