Default On Any Given Sunday Poll: What's the Most Likely Freak Win Scenario for the Shins?

OK...we all know that on any given Sunday...and if we needed reminding of that fact, we have only to remember Miami.

But while we all know what might happen, I think almost every Bronco fan on this board expects to win Sunday against a team that is riding a ridiculous streak of wildly improbable luck. Sure...sure..."winners make their own luck"...and all that stuff. Sorry...you can't tell me that this Shins team is anywhere near as good as their record. But as somebody once said, "I'd rather be lucky than good", so who knows? It's certainly not beyond the realm of possibility we're all dedluding ourselves into thinking this is a sure win. Ordinarily if we were riding one of the best defenses in the NFL into a home game showdown with a team that was averaging a less than scintilating 13.3 points per game in regulation play...we'd be thinking ahead to the next game.

Not so this week. Yes...the Shins have a very good defense, and yes...they have Clinton Portis, and yes...Joe Gibbs is the Bill Wallsh of 2005...but let's get real here; beating Kyle Orton and the hapless Bears AT HOME by 2 points isn't going to scare anyone. Orton's passing game makes Jake Plummer look like Darryl "Mad Bomber" Lamonica by comparison. Can this team really expect to come into Denver and beat us? Well Lady Luck has them thinking they can.

So with this in mind...just in case this does indeed turn out to be "any given Sunday"...how do you think the good football fairy will reward the Shins with another freak win this week?

If the Broncos simply phone it in like they do from time to time it will be a long game.

If they play like they have the past 3 weeks it won't be close.

Although I resent the "Shins" comment, I will say that I think a couple teams (dallass included) really underestimated us coming in. I hope Denver does the same, but really it comes down to turnovers. We can't have any and expect to beat a playoff team with a great home crowd.

I think this time we go with the 11 player lateral on a kick off return late -ala "the Dirty Birds" from back in the day, return it, win 19-17

No I think the days are over. Dallas didn't so much underestimate you as just started patting themselves on the back a little early.

The skins were in almost every game last year but could not find a way to win. This year they are finding a way, luck or not things are going our way. The offense seems to be improving with each week. With that said I vote for 35 points in the second quarter leads to the demise of the Broncos.

Honestly I expect it to come down to the wire. I will probably burn through a pack of cigarettes in the last five minutes of the game because the Skins always make you sweat but the difference this year is W's at the end.

I haven't heard the Shins reference before. I suppose if your going to bash the Skins something original is better than Deadskins or Foreskins...those are old and tired.

Dallas did what. How does whooping your arse's for 58 minutes = underestimating you As a serious football fan surely you realize you were getting b**** slapped that entire game until the crackboys started to make their dinner reservations instead of finishing off a team they had the choke hold on.

To steal a line from lazyhorse - Skins fans I love you retards

I respect your opinion, but what I saw was a team laughing and joking even after we scored the first and second TDs. The lack of respect started way before kickoff as I know dallass had that game circled on the calendar as an easy W. To me, scheduling the ring of honor ceremony on a day that you play your biggest rival is asking for trouble.

I'm not by any means saying we dominated the game, but it was certainly more than the two plays. We just missed on a bunch of others and really we shouldn't have needed the two bombs but we did and we connected. The offense was still adjusted and has steadily improved with Brunell at the helm.

Bottom line is that fans can talk about "take away this and that", but that isn't the way football works. You have to play the entire game.

I'm not bothering with the crackhead who wants to get into a pissing match. I don't lower myself to that level.

Of course, in the defense of Dallas, it *was* the first time you had beaten them in what, like ten tries?

The Redskins won that game, and kudos to them for finding a way to win. But if I may say, that was the absolute worst looking win I can ever remember bearing witness to. I have big respect for Joe Gibbs, but after watching that game, I was scratching my head.

I said that Plummer will leave to become the next Ron Jeremy, lol. Hey, I'm sure that's the real reason they call him Jake the Snake.

Pompous homer threads like this usually create the karma needed to be quickly followed by an embarrassing beating.

Being that the Foreskins have yet to lose and the Donks were destroyed by a bad Fins squad maybe the question should be "What kind of lucky break is it going to take for the Donks to win on Sunday?"

Well maybe if we jump out to an 18 point lead we can hold on...I mean who in the hell can't hold on to an 18 point lead

Wow I dissagree that the Skins were playing them even or even close to it for the first 56 minutes. They finished with 346 net yards, which means before Dallas decided to ignore the only play in Joe Gibbs playbook capable of producing not one but TWO quick TD's...they had 237 yards total offense, a 3.8 avg per play and a ridiculous 4.2 per pass attempt. Giving up two deep balls within the last 3 minutes of a game is absolutely inexcusable.

The bad Fins have a better record than your Chiefs.

Folks like to "take away" those two plays, but, of course you can't do that in football. If that was the case, then we could "take away" the only two long Dallass passes to Terri "She" Glenn. Those led directly to 10 points. So, the score would've been 3-0 going into the final 4 minutes.

While this doesn't excuse the Redskin's abhorrent playcalling on the offensive side of the ball to that point, it is food for thought about "taking away" plays. For the same reason, you'll never hear me "take away" Shaun Alexander's 34 yard run last week. He earned it. The Shehawks earned it. It was a crisp, well executed run play. That's part of the game.

We're not taking those plays away, but its obvious you won the game because of those plays two plays rather than anything done during the rest of the game. Thats all thats being said. If our defense can do what they did against KC, shut down both the running and passing attacks, we have a very good chance of blowing this game wide open on you.

a chef fan talking about rolling over after getting slapped around on MNF followed up with quite possible the "roll over" of the season the next week at home none the less. Having their D exposed and in obvious need of adjustment but instead the coaching staff gives the team a week off to bar hop.
