Default More Trouble For Chiefs O-Line

We can only hope this young man will be ok. It seems no-one is really certain exactly what happened. Speculation includes undiagnosed epilepsy or a medication reaction:

Report: Sampson drifting in, out of consciousnessAssociated Press

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Offensive tackle Kevin Sampson was admitted to a New Jersey hospital Thursday morning after apparently suffering a seizure, Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil has confirmed.

Sampson

"I'm very, very concerned," Vermeil told The Kansas City Star on Thursday. "I've been trying all afternoon to get information. I haven't heard from anybody."

The Jersey Journal in Jersey City reported in Friday's editions that Sampson, 24, called 911 at about 10 a.m. Thursday complaining about not feeling well. When an ambulance arrived at an apartment building in Hoboken, Sampson asked to be taken to a hospital but collapsed.

The Journal reported that the 6-foot-4, 312-pound Sampson, in his second year with the Chiefs, was taken to the emergency room of St. Mary Hospital in Hoboken and was passing in and out of consciousness.

"I'm shocked, I'm praying and I'm frantically trying to get hold of someone," Joe Linta, Sampson's agent, said. He said he had tried to get information from the hospital but was denied.

A hospital spokesman told The Associated Press on Thursday night that no information about Sampson was available.

Vermeil had given the Chiefs the week off going into their bye weekend following their 37-31 loss to the Eagles on Sunday, Sampson's first start.

A native of Westwood, N.J., Sampson played college football at Syracuse, and Linta had been planning to meet him Friday night at the Syracuse-Connecticut football game.

Jesus, he's only 24 years old. Hopefully it's nothing life threatening.

This is what makes the NFL allmost seem meaniless when you hear stuff like this, esp to the younger people playing. Isn't he a starter on their OLine? Or was he feeling in?

I'm not going to say anything stupid like some of the chef trolls around here about how he's not so "tough" because he has this condition.

I hope things work for him and he gets back to good health.

Get well Kevin and when you get out of the hospital, remember your health is more important than your football career.

Classy post fellas.

As a Chiefs fans I appreciate the well wishes. This kind of stuff transends football. I wonder if it is something weight related.

There seems to be a lot of scrutiny these days about our "big men" and how unhealthy thier weight is.

GB16, no he isn't a starter. He started a game last week because of the injury to Roaf. With the return of Roaf, Jordan Black should return to R Tackle.

Going into the last game of preseason, he was penciled in as our starting RT. Went out with a turf toe injury and finally came back to start last week.

Just when the bye week was looking good with Roaf coming back in, Sampson was going to keep the RT spot. Getting Welborne back helps, but it will take a few weeks to get him ready.

We all love our football and rightfully so our own teams of choice. The injurys are part of the game we love that deep down inside none of us really like to see. A players health is always / or should always be more important than a football game.

Props to all the post with class.

Last year was bad, really bad. So far this year, it's been tough, I only hope it smooths out from here.

Sad news about Sampson health, hope it all comes around well for him.

What, you're not going to question the guy's toughness or say that he must have "found a hard spot" on Denver's team?

What about mentioning how ironic it is that he got this seizure on his week off?

You sure as hell were keen on stressing that when Champ went down injured? What about now crazy?

No "Karma is a b***h" comment either?

Man, are you confused ? You obiviously haven't a clue to what you are talking about.

I never cheer for any injury or a person's health, never have, never will .

Time for you to backup and punt.

I didn't quote you on my post above. I quoted crazyhorse because of what he said regarding Champ/Rod getting injured.

Now run along and work on that English Comprehension homework some more.

Oh and for the record here's crazyhorse in full drama queen mode when Champ/Rod went down injured:

Karma is a b****, huh?

As for Baileys toughness, let me go on record here.

I feel that Champ is a tough guy. You have to be to play football.

But he takes games off. Like the December game last season.

Ask Rod Smith how "soft" we were. He found his ass knocked the **** out on two occasions in that game.

Man...hopefully this turns out to just be something simple like an allergic reaction to shell fish or something like that. Based on what little details they gave I actually had a friend have a very similar reaction to shellfish. He was about 24 when it happen also. Never had a problem with shellfish up to that point and then bam....damn near killed him.

Actually he is intended to be the starter at RT.....Because he was a little gimpy before the season started DV started Black at RT but planned to bring Sampson in during the game to ease him into the flow....Then Roaf quickly got hurt and they moved Black to LT and Sampson assumed the RT spot as was planned from the get go.
