Default Power Rankings - Peter King etc ..

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_yl...nnsi&type=lgns

SD #2 (??) we beat these guys, right?
DEN #6
KC (unranked out of 15)
OAK (Ditto)

PRISCO GRADES:

http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/8922866

Denver: A Broncos: Winning this game coming off a Monday night game is impressive. This defense is far better than expected.
JAX: F

PHI: B -
KC: D Chiefs: Blowing a big lead at home is inexcusable. So much for all that talk about how the newcomers would make the defense better. It's the same Chiefs.

Defensive Player of the Week

Denver LB Al Wilson. This Denver linebacking corps is blowing people up. In Jacksonville, covering for injured cornerback Champ Bailey, Wilson and his buddies pressured Byron Leftwich continually, holding the Jags to 241 yards. Wilson had four fumble recoveries, a sack, two forced fumbles and a pass defensed. The Broncs have allowed 34 points in the last three weeks.

5. I think this is what I liked about Week 4:

b. Jake Plummer started 13 of 15 on the road, including a TD pass to Dwayne Carswell, at Jacksonville. Now that's new, Denver playing efficiently on the road.

h. The Denver run defense.

I think Dick Vermeil sure is a nice boss. The Chiefs come to work today, the first day of their bye week, then have six full days off.

Blurb from the King Article.

What a disgraceful show of phony arm-tackling by Charles Woodson on that long Cowboys run down the sidelines.

another blurb from the same artticle. That play should end any argument from Raiders fans everywhere concerning who the better CB is between Champ and Woodson.

The Chargers will lose their glow (#2 and #3) if the Patsies start struggling against other teams as well.

It was a good game for SD though.

I worry about them more than i do KC.

...and you know what?...I think Denver is about right at 7-8 or 9 at the moment.

The Broncos still have to smoothen out that offense, and they will.

The Redskins @ 8 and the Giants @ 7 are humorous.

I do think the Chargers are ranked way too high. Likewise, the Pats are ranked too low.

So let's see now...

We just beat the Chargers recently... but sincel they beat a depleted injury riddled Pats team (which I said they'd start declining a couple weeks ago) they jump over us into #2... So I guess that makes us #1 then??

The Bucks stole a game this weekend against the LIONS with the help instant replay and they're ahead of us. Thier whole running game and offense has been overly dependant on a rookie back unlike our running Machine. But of course they're also ahead of us for whatever reason.....

The Bengals? the media darlings of 2005... They've racked up their early record against teams going 3-10!

All three of these teams should be below us. Yah, I know.... it's only rankings... We still get no respect.

I used to think that there was an east coast bias, but it appears that the league simply doesn't watch our games at all.

Anyway, I think given the extremely dense nature of the league that even maintaining this level of play, we'll be able to lay low for another good five or six games. I actually think that the one time we could get some coverage is when we spank down the Giants. Other than that, every other game we win coming up has an excuse that the media can all agree on.

I love how beating the Pats matters so much for SD. The Pats have more pro-bowl level players injured right now than SD has on their whole team. Way to kick 'em while they're down. Thats ok though, we all know they can't handle us.

To be fair, some pundits still remember the stink of that effort in Miami.

Weren't we listed in the mid 20's to start season & Chefs listed in or near top 5? I love that we moved up so quick & KFC fell off earth. Too bad these polls are essentially worthless.

Wilson had four fumble recoveries in that game? I thought we ONLY had four TO's and I know for sure two were INT's.

Maybe he means the entire season

I don't think anyone is writing them off. BUT as of right now they are about the 10th best team in the league. That of course doesn't mean they will end up there but right now How could you put them any higher.

I wondered the same thing. I know he didn't recover 4 in that game. King is high or something. Probably hopped up on Starbucks latte. Oh well, at least he is giving Al some props, even if his facts aren't correct.

SD beat NE on the road that is the standard of greatness in the eyes of the media so that gives them #2 ranking.

I think the correct stat is four forced fumbles.

King has been a Woodson hater for years.

Woodson did give up on the play as he thought Hill pushed the guy out of bounds, but had Woodson come flying in and drilled Dallas' WR, it would have most likely resulted in a personal foul.

As far as phony arm tackles, how about that one Champ put on Doug Gabriel last year where he was tossed aside like a little b**** .

8. Jake Plummer has thrown for only 288 yards in the Broncos last two games. But he hasn't thrown any INTs and the Broncos have won both games -- they'll take that every week.

It's like the college football mentality -- they started out ranked higher than us so they keep their higher ranking by winning. People feel sorry for them because they play a tough schedule (although losing to Dallas is starting to look bad, IMO).

In many "rankings" we slipped to 20 or lower after that Miami loss and its hard to jump everyone this quickly.
