They do have a strong defense, but they were worn down thanks to the Broncos holding the ball for 38+ minutes.

Our OL is finally gelling and opening some holes, nice to see that even against a great Defensive team were still running well.

OK, you know, I KNOW I said last year after Q's game I would NEVER doubt Shanahan's running game again.

But after your first two games, yeah, I doubted him, once again. I was sure this was the year he was going to get bitten in the ass.

OK, so like, yeah, just let me say this for REAL now.

I WILL NEVER, EVER DOUBT MIKE SHANAHAN'S ABILITY TO FIELD A COMPETENT RUNNING GAME. EVER NEVER FOREVER EVER FOREVER EVER. NEVER.

That 17 play, nine minute 15 second drive in the second quarter just killed their defense. They stopped trying to dictate after that series. From there on out, they were just hanging on for dear life.

Nine passes, and eight runs on that drive, and we kept them off balance throughout. I really think Kubiak deserves a game ball today.

The Broncos also did a great job of keeping a fresh back in there against a weary Jags defense.

I like our running attack that we've been using. Gives me a similar vibe as what USC is running with Bush and White, though obviously not nearly as dominant. Still very productive though. Bell for the speed, great on draws and in the open field, Anderson plows the middle. Just grinds on a defense, us having these two talented backs. We need to milk this as our offensive foundation all season long, I'm hoping they split about 30-35 carries a game between the two of them, they each get at least 10 then ride the hot hand.

Den o-line is firing out, attacking, taking the battle beyond the LOS. They should be proud of themselves.

Shanahan doesnt like 2 headed running attacks, I'm pretty sure that we'll either see Anderson or Bell or perhaps Dayne carrying the ball in a few weeks, but not all three splitting time.

And I should mention the WR's and TE's. I don't think you can get 220 and 190 yds rushing in back to back games without the TE's and WR's engaging and maintaining blocks.

Kudos to Shanny for staying patient, and staying with the run. Early on, I thought he might get a little uncomfortable and start passing more, but no, he kept pounding until it paid off. That's a coach telling his Oline how much faith he has in them. Paid off big time.

Running to the edge and rotating the backs is going to help this team alot. The fact that we rushed the ball 38 time says a lot about this team.

Mike doesn't like two headed rushing attacks because he thinks it doesn't let one RB really take the job on his shoulders and find his rhythm. If we can keep Bell and Anderson both over 10 carries a game I don't think thats as much a concern. I don't think we need Dayne short of an injury, but getting Anderson and Bell both on the field often is a GOOD thing for this team.

If we run the ball 38 times a game, there are plenty of carries to get both backs into a rhythm.

Give MA the first 20 totes of the rock.

Let him wear them down.

Then give the next 18 carries to Bell, and completely deflate any hope the defense had left.

Something along those lines, yeah, but 38 carries is a lot to bet on, I'd say more like 30 at least per week. Start with MA, use him early on because he's clearly a key to asserting the passing game, then let Bell open it up after we get a little momentum. Then after they both get 5-10 carries see who's looking the best and ride the hot hand.

Crazy, Dayne might have what it takes to be a 1,000 yard rusher in our system but he can't get on the field.

That was huge. You could tell that demoralized them. They tried to come back a little bit in the third, but we held and then they gave up.

I'm still liking what little I'm seeing in Bell so far this year. He has that extra gear explosion that Mike doesn't. Remember that 20 yard run late in the game by Mikey that he got tackled at the 20? I say Tatum Bell takes that to the house. But, right now, Mike has done nothing to lose the job. Bell hasn't done anything enough to win the job. Hopefully we keep Bell at #2 RB right now because he has talent that Mike and Ron don't, and thats speed and explosiveness.

Bell did a nice job running the ball today, but remember early in the game he dropped a pass and missed a block that resulted in a sack. He has to get better in those two areas before he deserves to start.

Agreed, but his usage currently is acceptable for his role. When he does those two things better, he will be starting.

It looked to me a couple of times like Bell got tripped up by his own shadow. I know it was wet so... But I do think he has the explosion that we're gonna need and he'll improve with a little more experience. No worries here.
