Talk about a versatile athlete. Let's count the different ways we used him.

1. Quarterback

2. Running back

3. Fullback (Laid that nice block for Lelie)

4. Receiver (WTF??!?!)

5. Holder for Elam. (By the way, this is a great thing because now we can run fakes without tipping our hand!)

Anyway, thought I would remind everyone what a soldier that Jake is being. Besides all that, he had a good game. (Though he needs to work on his deep passes)

I wish they would have thrown a pass to jake on that play, that would have been sweet. It also would have been nice if he didn't get a penalty. Still, I love it when teams run a trick play every once in a while, it keeps opponents guessing.

They weren't covering him and they snapped the ball too quickly. He didn't have time to set yet.

Jake is a warrior, no doubt. He might make bonehead mistakes, but that's only because he's trying to WIN. I feel a lot more comfortable with Jake at the helm than that marshmallow Griese.

If you guys remember, his first season here was brilliant until he got hurt. Last season was tough all around.

We lost Portis, McCaffrey and Sharpe all in that season. We also lost Ephraim Salaam (spelling?) The offense definitely took a step back. On D we lost Bertrand Berry and then Pryce got hurt. That didn't help our field possition.

Good points, Kaylore.
Jake gets the blame for alot, but I still havent seen a consistent threat develop in our offense outside of Rod Smith since those guys left. I really think that losing Sharpe really hurt us. You have to cover him tightly on every play. Losing the greatest TE in NFL history who is your go-to receiver hurts pretty bad.

I think the main reason for Jake to be holding is because Saurbraun is not good at it, I can't say this is a fact and I am preparing to confirm this but I believe Jake has been a placeholder before at ASU, true Elam missed once last night, but I'm betting dollar to doughnuts that he was holding cause of Tood's poor abilities at it. And Shanny running a fake with Jake is/should not be an option. First IMO trick plays are a sign of a weak team. Second I really can't remember Shanny ever running something like that before. And finally, Van Pelt would be a better option for the fake than Jake, if you lost your starting QB on some "trick play" to injury that could cost you the season, BVP is a better, bigger runner and if he got hurt the team could go on, we would be sunk if our starter went down.

I agree with your first part but not your second. The Patriots scored a touchdown on trick play last year and having Jake fake a field goal isn't going to open him up to any more injury than any other down he's out there on offense. The mechanics behind blocking and whatnot are the same and they'll call roughing the passer just the same as well.

I'd gladly give up 2-5 just so he could be more consistent at 1.

There are plently of good defenses coming up in our schedule so let's hope his play against KC wasn't just an aberration caused by a lackluster front four that couldn't get put any pressure on the QB.

It's one thing when the play action and bootleg plays work because of an overaggressive defense where the DE overpursue and get taken out of the play. But how will Jake play when the DL contains the pocket and he has to make plays passing the ball? Jax's defense, although stout against the run doesn't have a big time secondary and they've already lost Donavin Darius so Jake will have ample opportunities to make plays from the pocket in the passing game.

Jake made a number of throws from the pocket on Monday, it's just that the rollouts created big plays, so that's what everyone sees in the replays.

I said the same thing the other night to my friend while we were watching the game. When Elam missed the field goals against San Diego, something just didn't look right, and I thought that something was Sauerbraun. I'm pretty sure that second missed field goal had laces in. So when I saw Jake practicing holding before the game with Elam, I figured I was right.

Let's get Van Pelt to hold. It will get him on the field and his head in the game. It will also cut down on Jakes responsibilities.

The only thing I have heard that BVP can hold is a Beer & a shot. If he could do it in practice Shanny would have put him in, I don't think Shanny trusts BVP to hold yet.

Jake dismantled the Charger's secondary from the pocket. He's a better pocket passer than people give him credit for.

He has played awesome this year without a doubt. He has played smart and thats what we have asked him to work on. He will get the deep ball done next week. Look for them to go deep and often, running will be very tough and the game will be on jake to make some throws and i believe he can make them all.

Did you know that the run play where Mike scored a touchdown was aduibled by Jake? He read the coverage and called the play at the line. Listen to the post game interviews of Rod and Mike. They talk about it and they're believers. Go Jake.

A little "Manning" action there from Jake

I still think that people are dreaming of John Elway when they look at Jake and that's just not fair.

John Elway is literally the greatest QB of all time.
