Default Keys to victory!

Chiefs

1. Stop the run

The Broncos are going to run and run and run, until they finally break one. The Chiefs know this. The Chiefs need to attack the line of scrimmage and get into the backfield. Plug the holes and stop the run. The OLBs need to contain the outside. In years past, the OLBs were slow and consistently beat to the outside. With the added speed on the outside, our OLBs have been beating the ball carrier to the corner, forcing the ball-carrier to the inside and blowing up the play. They need to do this tonight.

This also includes that dumbass bootleg. Our DEs and OLBs need to contain Plummer and not let him break any big runs. It's all about eliminating the big plays.

2. Pressure the QB

Our secondary is improved from a year ago, but the key is to rattle Plummer and force him to make a couple mistakes. If Plummer has time to throw, he will find an open receiver. The key here is to get pressure from the D-Line and attack him with some blitzes. If we can get in his head and force him to make some bad throws, we should be able to force a couple takeaways.

3. Consistent O-Line play

Give Trent time to find an open receiver, and open holes for the running game. Denver has some very good LBs, and we need solid blocking to execute our offense. If the O-Line plays well, we will score points.

4. Win the Special Teams Battle

I think if we accomplish the above, we will be in good shape. The wildcard in all of this is special teams. Breaking one long return can make or break this game IMO.

For Denver

1. Stopping the run

If the Chiefs establish the run and can control the clock, the Broncos might be in trouble. The Broncos would be doing themselves a favor by stopping us early, putting some early scores on the board and taking an early lead, and getting the Chiefs out of their gameplan.

2. Solid O-Line play

Broncos would be doing themselves a favor if they can protect Plummer and open some holes in the running game. If they play poorly I think it will be very tough for the Broncos to win this game.

3. Turnovers

I think the Broncos need a couple takeaways, and a lot of this might just be getting in the right place at the right time. You really can't gameplan a forced fumble.

4. Special teams

Dante Hall has beaten the Broncos in the past. They can't afford to let him break a long return.

I think the key to this game is to cheat. whoever gets away with the most illegal cut blocks vs illegal blocks in the back will win.

it amazes me how eerily these "keys to victory" seem to be for both teams!

If I was game planning the Broncos I would keep Sarah Cutler in eyeshot of TrINT whenever he was on the field. ....... of course, you all know THAT!
