He looks pretty bad ass in that picture. Good vision. Good pad level. Ready to hit someone.

Den's offense is geared to pass to back the safties up. Everyone knwos shanny is a run first philosophy guy. It's what makes his WC offense different - though Walsh had Craig for a little while.

I dont think the back is the problem thats causing our running woes its our line...notice how all of our sucsess comes from running to the left side of the line...its easy to shut us down, put extra pressure on the left side. The right side of our line has sucked in the run game. Thats our problem.

Bad thing is, 67yds came on one play.
Which means he only had 51 yards on 10 carries ![]() |

One of the troubles is the # of empty backfields. You can't audible to a running play with an empty backfield, and Denver hasn't had huge success with empty backfields. Actually making the spread formations work would definitely help.
There's a lot of answers, but mostly the answer is Plummer being able to consistently get some first downs with his arm, even without a score, the ST's getting a 40 yd net on punts, causing a 25-30 yd net on opposition punts, the D getting some TO's and TD's. Every D Denver meets with is going to stop the Den running game as job #1. It's up to the rest of the team to make up for that. If they want W's, they'll have to do that. There's a lot more to winning for the Broncs than just the running game. There will be some opportunities for the running game, and it definitely will contribute a lot this year. |

Do keep in mind, Dayne got the bulk of his yards against a fairly tired defense in the 4th quarter, while Anderson was facing a fresh, fired up D in the first half.
That said, I'm thrilled with the production we got from him. We paid nothing for him, so it's all gravy. The only thing funnier than a guy like Dayne running all over KC's defense would be Griffin again. (A dude fresh off the wire.) |
