Not only did he play with pain but he played exceptioally well. I think his interception TD lit a fire under the D.

This isn't news. What amazes me is that QB's have been picking on him two games in a row. I hope the trend continues.

I knew he was talented when they traded for him but I had no idea how tough he was. The guy's got a lot of heart.

I am very impressed with Champ playing through an injury and saving us, but I want to see him keep this **** up against Peyton.

I've been behind champ all the way.
Now I aint bsing, i defended him in the bengals game, in Jags game, in the oakland snow game. He needed help, perhaps with the turnovers we are seeing now, the phrase i often refer to: "Pressure = picks", "Coverage = sacks". With just a little passrush, and his teamates playing hard, champ will accel, there is no doubt about it. He has athletic ability that is unequaled by any other defensive back in the game today, that you can't take away from him, no matter how many times you bash him. |

Our CB's are finally making more plays. I think that is directly related to the pass rush we started getting.
It will be interesting to see how we hold up next week on D. KC will be a tough test. |

Bailey article.
SoCals link:http://insidedenver.com/drmn/broncos...094365,00.html Bailey not feeling much pain after getting big interception By Jeff Legwold And Lee Rasizer, Rocky Mountain News September 20, 2005 ENGLEWOOD - Though he had only one arm functioning at 100 percent, Champ Bailey still was able to help lift the Denver Broncos to their first victory of the season Sunday. And the day after he returned an interception 25 yards for a game-changing touchdown, Bailey said his ailing left shoulder came through just fine. Advertisement "I feel OK, just the usual soreness, postgame soreness . . . ," he said. "I'm not the only guy out there playing in pain. There's probably 22 guys, 22 starters out there playing in pain. Most of those guys played a whole game last week (in Miami), so they probably more banged up than I was." Bailey and the rest of the Broncos will get an extra day to recuperate this week because Denver does not play until Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, an extra day Bailey called "a blessing." Bailey said he didn't change his technique because of limited mobility from the harness he wore on the shoulder he dislocated in Miami. The five-time Pro Bowl selection was credited with three tackles and a pass defensed. The interception came on the first play of the second half when Bailey was supposed to be in coverage far deeper in the pattern. "It just kind of came together," said Bailey, whose photo will appear on billboards locally in his high school uniform - No. 10 for Charlton County High School in Folkson, Ga. - as part of a Nike campaign. "I just knew exactly what (Chargers quarterback Drew Brees) wanted to do on that play. I just jumped the route, which is not my area of the field to cover. "There's always risk when you gamble like that." Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said he didn't believe it was a risk because Bailey was so sure of the play that was coming. "That wasn't even a gamble, he saw it coming the whole way," Shanahan said. "That's what football players do, that's why you pay a guy that type of money, he has those instincts. . . . That's what great players do." GET THE CHECKBOOK: Shanahan continued his criticism of a too-many-men-on-the-field penalty that wiped away a Darrent Williams' fourth-quarter punt return for a touchdown. He also said he expects to be fined for the criticisms. At least two players ran on the field in the excitement as Williams was making his way to the end zone, including tight end Stephen Alexander. It was the right call by the rules book, but Shanahan isn't convinced. "It wasn't the right call, it was a horrible call, a horrible call," Shanahan said. "Stephen Alexander was talking to me, parallel to me as he was running. . . . He drifted on to the field. "(The official) made the call, we'll live with it. But you don't see a lot of calls like that in high school." The league said it reviews all comments made by players and coaches and Shanahan could be fined if the comments about the officials are considered too derogatory. Shanahan, like all coaches, routinely speaks with NFL director of officiating Mike Pereira to review each game, including Monday. Shanahan said he had not yet heard if a fine was in the offing. ACTION JACKSON: The Broncos are expecting to welcome tight end Nate Jackson back to practice Wednesday. He missed two weeks in training camp because a pulled right hamstring, then reaggravated the injury in the final exhibition game Sept. 2 at Arizona. He has been deactivated in the two regular-season games. The problem now becomes finding a role. Denver frequently has used Jeb Putzier and Stephen Alexander in two tight-end formations and moved Dwayne Carswell into a heavy two-tight end alignment on five snaps against the San Diego Chargers. "It's a new position for me, so I don't think the plan all along was to throw me into the fire right away," said Jackson, a converted receiver. "It's a learning process for me. But the team goes on without you when you're hurt, and you just have to do your best to get back in there and when you are hurt, mentally stay with it because things can pass you up. "I've been staying in it mentally. And they'll work me in as they see fit." ETC.: Running back Tatum Bell was treated for a sprained left ankle. Shanahan said it's possible Bell could practice by Thursday . . . Kicker Paul Ernster "tweaked" a knee, Shanahan said, just before the game and wasn't kicking consistently enough to keep him among the 45 players in uniform . . . The Broncos routinely bring in free agents for workouts on Tuesdays. Former Seattle Seahawks receiver Jerheme Urban, who caught six passes for 117 yards last season, is scheduled to work out at the Dove Valley complex today. Urban (6-foot-3, 212 pounds), is one of the biggest unsigned receivers on the market. |

I think Bailey heard the criticism over the offseason and stepped it up a notch. He seems like a man on a mission. His ability make that play, based on how bad he knew we needed it, reminds or Borque calling his own goal against the Devils. (Granted the stage wasn't quite as bright).
