Default What happened to Bush??

I have never been a GWB supporter but after 911 I was right behind him. Remember his first speech after 911 how passioned it was. How you could feel the sadness in the air and thought for sure he was going to shed a tear. Remember when he held the badge of a fallen police officer given to him by his wife and you could see his jaw tremble a little.

Well, what happened to him? Has he become used to death and dying? Does he think he is untouchable and above critcism? He showed so much disinterest in this disaster he didn't even want to cut his 5 week vacation short.

Maybe my hatred for him has clouded my perception but I was looking for that same passion he had for the poor people of Louisianna as he had for the victims of 911. There wasn't any. Again all I saw was the Maverick Cowboy where life is cheap even if it is American life. He was never rattled and never in a hurry. He gave the same blaze' boring new conferences and statements. I wanted to see a passioned President that had a sense of urgency and was motivated by the situation. I diodn't see that man. To me it seems that we now have a President that is overly confident and less caring than the one that was elected in 2000.

Sometimes actions speak louder than words. Have you noticed the response the last two days. Have you seen improvement?

Sure, there were delays and you're going to try to hammer me on the quick response time in the beginning. With a huge natural disaster like this, there is going to be delays, there is going to be confusion. It happens and yes lives are going to be lost unfortunately, you try to minimize them. You cant save every life in a situation like this.

There is blame to be laid for some failures. There were also obstacles in the way in getting an all out response immediately.

Take a step back and realize this disaster was of epic proportions. There was no way to save every single life. But instead of laying blame, try to realize that people are now making heroic efforts to save lives and do what they can. I have seen some truly heroic things the last two days and am proud to be an American watching these people save lives.

Appreciate the tasks and the missions that are being accomplaished right now and in the same sense remember the poor people that lost their lives.

This disaster was not in a small area, it covered three states and caused chaos from the onset. We all sit at home and watch on TV. We're not there and we don't have all the information readily available to us to really understand what went wrong at the onset of this thing.

This is one huge tragedy but people are trying to make it better.

Can we just edit Bronco9798's post down to "don't criticize Bush?"

That's about the long and short of it.

Not only did it take Bush five days to finish golfing, playing guitar, and eating birthday cake - Bush was cutting all of the funding and programs that were needed to prepare for this kind of disaster a long f_cking time ago.

Those few morons left in America who still support Bush have demonstrated beyond any doubt that they place party and politics before country - no matter what.

even above fellow Americans , i just watched that piece on Fox news with Shep Smith and Geraldo , Kudos to those guys for getting it . This shouldnt be Rep or a Dem thing , this should be about getting help to those people , saving those lives . And they are not getting this help , so we have to attack the president and make this political ...... It is just so sick , so disheartning .........
Fellow Americans who i admit I didnt give a rats ass about 2 weeks ago , are in dire need of help ........

"This is a supreme test of Bush's leadership at a time when resources are thin and his approval ratings are perilously low," poll expert John Zogby told Reuters. "The president is going to have to do a lot more than a 25-minute flyover."
How many times does he get to retake the test?

I believe we have more than enough data to make an assessment.

Lets take this a step further... What happened to everyone? Where is the leadership? Our pres takes a few extra days on vacation, Chenney is still on vacation (or is he dead? i haven't seen him since the VP debate), congress take about 4-5 days to come back to work... where the hell is everyone...anyone?

Honestely at this point i'ld get rid of the whole bunch and start over...

AMEN!!! I always though they were supposed to represent our interests, not only theirs!
I'd also like to add, I wont respond to those who think I'm making this a partisan issue, I would have jumped on Bill's a$$ also, for a similar response!

Wow!!! A record 4 smileys on one sentence/paraghraph/allthoughtsthrowntogether. Here is a tip I learned in the 10th grade spider. One period at the end of a sentence, is enough. You dont need to use 4 or 5 periods at the end of each sentence. Well, good day, and happy Labor Day!

Fortunately for America, the Senate will re-convene next week and start hashing out how to eliminate the estate tax. It couldn't come at a better time. Trent Lott will need those funds to rebuild his beachfront mansion.

Actually, they will be considering 1 maybe 2 or maybe 3 SC nominations. Should help to take some of the pressure off them over the nations worst disaster for awhile.

Multiple ...... is used to indicate "stream of consciousness" writing. It's a pretty common literary form and one that I'm surprised escaped you.

Periods represent an end of a thought. Multiple periods together represent the progress of that thought towards a conclusion or a "settler" without saying anything.

You need to take an English course............ I think.

you will love my football takes ...... As for my political takes , all I do is post , what I see the situation is , will never tell someone how to vote or who to vote for , that is a personal decision , but if Clinton was running this mess you would see the same type of outrage , R or D , a screw up is a screw up ....... Should have seen when I went through the roof when Clinton gave China MFN status everyone thought was a republican . and i did support Bush untill couldnt no more , in fact I was the only one to make a thread giving Bush Props for the Iraqi Election ..... I dont hate republicans , i hate Neo cons , 2 different things , most Bush People dont know the difference .......

One thing is for certain:

Clinton would have NEVER waited 5 days to act.

You wouldn't find Clinton playing f_cking golf the day after the disaster struck and diddling around on a guitar the following day..

(Just like Clinton wouldn't have looked at intelligence that said "al Qaeda planning suicide attacks inside the U.S., then shrug, go on vacation and do NOTHING.)
