Round 1

1. San Francisco 49ers-Reggie Bush RB USC
The 49ers have Alex Smith at quarterback and recently signed Jonas Jennings at left tackle, so Matt Leinart and D'Brickashaw Ferguson are eliminated at this selection. Running back is the only important position left that's worthy of drafting with the number one overall pick. Bush would immediately cause matchup problems and would be reunited with longtime friend Alex Smith.

2. Cleveland Browns-D'Brickashaw Ferguson OT Virginia
The Browns are still rebuilding and Phil Savage will build the offense around Ferguson, much like the Ravens did when they drafted Jonathan Ogden in 1996. Matt Leinart could be an option here but the front office believes first day selection Charlie Frye will be a capable starter.

3. Tennessee Titans-Matt Leinart QB USC
The Titans have Steve McNair and Billy Volek but McNair is close to retirement and Volek will be thirty years old this time next year. With Norm Chow on board, he'll be pushing the front office hard to get his guy. Chow pushes hard enough and the Titans land Leinart.

4. Miami Dolphins-Ahmad Brooks LB Virginia
The Dolphins are getting older and have many areas of need. Saban, a defensive minded coach, wants to make a full transition to a 3-4 defense next year. Zach Thomas is let go because he doesn't have the size and is getting up there in age. Saban takes one of the best linebackers to come out in years. Brooks, along with Channing Crowder, will form a formidable interior linebacking crew in the 3-4 defense.

5. New York Giants-Mario Williams DE North Carolina State
Michael Strahan's playing days are close to an end. Williams would be a nice replacement and could learn from the sack master his first year if Strahan sticks around.

6. Chicago Bears-Chad Greenway LB Iowa
The Bears overhauled a poor offense this offseason. Now it's time to address the defense. The Bears have two good linebackers in Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs. Greenway would be a fantastic addition that Lovie Smith would love to have.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Eric Winston OT Miami
Tampa Bay's starting left tackle Derrick Deese will be thirty-six during next years draft. Winston is a safe choice as he will step in and replace Deese almost immediately. A.J. Hawk is also an option here.

8. Denver Broncos (from Washington Redskins)-Mathias Kiwanuka DE Boston College
Denver has lost their top pash rushers at defensive end the past two years. The Broncos take Kiwanuka and never look back. Somewhere in Washington, Joe Gibbs is kicking himself.

9. New Orleans Saints-Rodrique Wright DT Texas
The Saints are weak at the defensive tackle position. Jonathan Sullivan has been a bust so far and Brian Young isn't anything special. The Saints feel they they have enough young linebackers and take Wright over A.J. Hawk.

10. Oakland Raiders- A.J. Hawk LB Ohio State
Oakland will have a potent offense but their defense will struggle. A.J. Hawk is a playmaking outside linebacker who should start immediately and help turn the Raiders into a serious playoff contender.

11. Detroit Lions-Jonathan Scott OT Texas
The Lions take the best player available and Scott is the choice. Scott will play left tackle forcing imcumbent starter Jeff Backus to move back to his more natural position at right tackle.

12. St. Louis Rams-Jimmy Williams CB Virginia Tech
St. Louis corners are average at best. Williams will step in and start along side Jerametrius Butler to help contain opposing offenses' wide receivers.

13. Green Bay Packers-Haloti Ngata DT Oregon
The Packers defense is not good. Cledius Hunt is inconsistent and is on the decline. Grady Jackson is constantly overweight and you can never know what you're going to get from him. Ngata is a big defender that will provide a stable anchor for the Packers defense of the future.

14. Dallas Cowboys-Martin Nance WR Miami (Ohio)
Dallas misses out on Ngata, so they turn to the offensive side of the ball and take the best wide receiver in the draft. Nance is a huge target at 6-5 and he will inject the Cowboys' receivers with a shot of youth.

15. Houston Texans-Marcus McNeill OT Auburn
It's about time Houston got David Carr some decent protection and Domanick Davis some wider running lanes. The Texans are exstatic that McNeill has last so long and they take the mammoth tackle in a heartbeat.

16. Denver Broncos-Andrew Whitworth OT LSU
Denver now focuses on offense after taking Mathias Kiwanuka with the eighth pick. The Broncos starting left tackle, Matt Lepsis, is in a contract year and will look to test the free agency market next season and probably won't be back. The Broncos need to add youth to the offensive line and a replacement for Lepsis and kill two birds with one stone with the addition of Whitworth.

17. Buffalo Bills-Jason Allen DB Tennessee
Buffalo loses out on the top offensive tackles and are forced to look elsewhere. For Buffalo, the Bills have Troy Vincent at free safety. Vincent will be approaching thirty-five years old during the 2006 NFL Draft. Allen will be Vincent's predecessor at safety and will fill his shoes once Vincent retires or is cut.

18. Seattle Seahawks-Deangelo Williams RB Memphis
Shaun Alexander most likely won't be in Seattle next season. With their first pick, Seattle takes the best running back in the draft as Alexander's replacement.

19. Arizona Cardinals-Omar Jacobs QB Bowling Green
The Cardinals need help on the interior defensive line and at tight end, but Jacobs has fallen too far for Denny Green to pass up. Kurt Warner isn't exactly young and McCown isn't the answer at quarterback. Green's Cardinals offense is slowly resembling that of the Vikings's offense when he was at Minnesota. The Cardinals can add a defensive tackle or tight end in free agency but can't find a quarterback like Jacobs in free agency. Jacobs will most likely sit his first year, like Culpepper did, and start his sophomore year.

20. Kansas City Chiefs-Derek Hagan WR Arizona State
Kansas City doesn't have a true number one wide receiver. They believe Hagan will fill that void.

21. New York Jets-Gabe Watson DT Michigan
The Jets are impressed with Derrick Blaylock as their backup to Curtis Martin and pass on Laurence Maroney. New York lost their run stuffing defensive tackle in Jason Ferguson to Dallas. They replace Ferguson with the best run stuffer in the draft with Watson.

22. Cincinnati Bengals-Darnell Bing SS USC
Kim Herring is not the answer for the Bengals. Bing steps in immediately and takes over the strong safety spot from the journeyman Herring.

23. Jacksonville Jaguars-Charles Gordon CB Kansas
Jacksonville needs another corner opposite Rashean Mathis. Gordon is a burner who can keep up with any wide receiver. Laurence Maroney and Loren Howard are options here but cornerback is more of a concern.

24. Atlanta Falcons-Loren Howard DE Northwestern
Brady Smith is getting older and is in the last year of his contract. Howard will remind some of Smith but Howard is much faster. Howard would step in and start in place of the departed Smith.

25. San Diego Chargers-LaRon Landry FS LSU
Jerry Wilson is average at best. The Chargers quickly jump on Landry and take the playmaking safety. Landry immediately upseats Wilson and improves the Chargers secondary.

26. Carolina Panthers-Marcedes Lewis TE UCLA
Carolina is puzzled as to how Lewis fell to them. With the sudden retirement of Freddie Jones, the Panthers are thin at tight end with no playmakers. The Panthers couldn't be happier taking the best tight end and a true playmaker.

27. Minnesota Vikings-Laurence Maroney RB Minnesota
This might be Michael Bennett's final season. Maroney stays in state and goes to a playoff contender.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers-LenDale White RB USC
Pittsburgh just misses out on Maroney but they feel White is better suited for their style of physical play. White will eventually replace Deuce Staley and Jerome Bettis to from a young, talented backfield with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

29. Indianapolis Colts-Jesse Mahelona DT Tennessee
The Colts defense needs as much talent as they can get. With Mahelona, they can start building the defense from the inside out. Mahelona is a powerful and quick defensive tackle who Dungy will like.

30. Baltimore Ravens-Devin Hester CB Miami (FL)
While Baltimore has two good starting corners in Samari Rolle and Chris McAlister, their backups, Deion Sanders and Dale Carter, most likely won't be back next season. Hester would step in a start as the nickelback and also give the Ravens a fantastic return man.

31. Philadelphia Eagles-Santonio Holmes WR Ohio State
T.O. might not even be back next season and Todd Pinkston is coming of season ending surgery.

32. New England Patriots-Abdul Hodge LB Iowa

The Patriots need to replace Ted Johnson and Teddy Bruschi and Hodge is more than capable. He has talent and the Patriots are suprised he lasted as long as he did.

Round 2

33. San Francisco 49ers- Will Blackmon CB Boston College
The 49ers add a playmaking corner opposite of Ahmed Plummer.

34. Cleveland Browns- Pierre Woods OLB Michigan
Woods is a big linebacker that would make him ideal in Romeo Crennel's 3-4 defense.

35. Tennessee Titans- Tamba Hali DE Penn State
The Titans have lost some quality defensive ends the past few years. Tennessee continues to restock the position with Hali.

36. Miami Dolphins-Michael Huff S Texas
The Dolphins have absolutely no one at free safety. Huff would step in and start right away.

37. New York Giants- Orien Harris DT Miami (FL)
The Giants are very weak at defensive tackle. Harris most likely would start next to Fred Robbins.

38. Chicago Bears- Max Jean-Giles OG Georgia
Ruben Brown isn't getting any younger.

39. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Ernie Sims LB Florida State
I'm not sold on Jeff Gooch starting in the NFL. Sims would be able to learn from one of the best in Derrick Brooks.

40. Washington Redskins- Darryl Tapp DE Virginia Tech
Redskins need a serious upgrade pass rush from their defensive ends. Tapp jump in immediately and lead the defensive ends in sacks.

41. New Orleans Saints- Leonard Pope TE Georgia
Boo Williams has been disappointing and Ernie Conwell is aging fast.

42. Oakland Raiders- Dusty Dvoracek DT Oklahoma
The Raiders need a pass rush from the interior of the defensive line.

43. Detroit Lions- D’Qwell Jackson LB Maryland
Earl Holmes won't be in Detroit much longer and he's on the decline.

44. St. Louis Rams- Eric Henderson DE Georgia Tech
The Rams need an end opposite of Leonard Little who can rush the passer and play the run. Henderson can do both and fit the Rams defense well.

45. Green Bay Packers-Will Derting LB Washington State
Derting can play outside linebacker and will challenge for the starting position opposite Na'il Diggs

46. Dallas Cowboys- Winston Justice OT USC
Dallas gets a steal with Justice. He'll start right away at right tackle.

47. Houston Texans- Nate Salley S Ohio State
Greg Earl is the starter at strong safety for the Texans. Enough said.

48. Denver Broncos- Greg Lee WR Pittsburgh
Rod Smith and Jerry Rice both could be gone next year. The Broncos get younger with Lee.

49. Buffalo Bills- Manny Lawson DE North Carolina State
The Bills need to generate more sacks from the defensive end position and Lawson will help solve the problem.

50. Seattle Seahawks- Spencer Havner OLB UCLA
Seattle's linebackers are just plain bad. Havner is penciled in as the starter as soon as his name is called.

51. Arizona Cardinals- Le Kevin Smith DT Nebraska
Cardinals need a run stuffer and find it in Smith.

52. Kansas City Chiefs- Davin Joseph OG/OT Oklahoma
Joseph will provide flexibility to an aging offensive line.

53. New York Jets- Jeremy Trueblood OT Boston College
Kareem McKenzie who?

54. Cincinnati Bengals- Joe Newton TE Oregon State
The Bengals finally get a do-it-all tight end in the 6-7 Newton.

55. Jacksonville Jaguars- Gerald Riggs Jr. RB Tennessee
Fred Taylor is injury prone and Riggs will eventually upseat Taylor and take his job

56. Atlanta Falcons- Greg Threat S Miami (FL)
Keion Carpenter is not the answer at the strong safety position.

57. San Diego Chargers- Jarrett Hicks WR Texas Tech
Keenan McCardell is aging and won't be around much longer. Reche Caldwell is more of a number two receiver.

58. Carolina Panthers- Charlie Whitehurst QB Clemson
Jake Delhomme's eventual replacement. The Panthers need to get younger at the quarterback position. Stefan Lefors doesn't impress me as an NFL quarterback.

59. Minnesota Vikings- Justin Blalock OT Texas
Solid run blocker will battle for the right tackle position if Mike Rosenthal faulters.

60. Pittsburgh Steelers- Manase Hopoi DE Washington
Kimo Von Oelhoffen's replacement.

61. Indianapolis Colts- Alan Zemaitis CB Penn State
Anything on defense for the Colts is a logical choice.

62. Baltimore Ravens- Greg Eslinger C Minnesota
A steal at this point. Will eventually replace Mike Flynn who will be 32 next year.

Jon Runyan's backup and eventual replacement.

That would be a really good draft. Pat Watkins is a stud safety. Ive never heard of Lee before but I am really happy witht he other three. Watkins in the 3rd is a steal. If we were going to go WR at 2, a better pick would have been Steve Smith or Avant, both of whom were still there. Eslinger at 2 would have been good too.

Agree - don't know much about Lee, but they hit the needs and Watkins would be great.

Lee is very good, and will be climbing up boards. I bet by next April, getting him at 48 will be considered good value.

Tennessee Titans- Tamba Hali DE Penn State The Titans have lost some quality defensive ends the past few years. Tennessee continues to restock the position with Hali. 36. Miami Dolphins-Michael Huff S Texas The Dolphins have absolutely no one at free safety. Huff would step in and start right away. 37. New York Giants- Orien Harris DT Miami (FL) The Giants are very weak at defensive tackle. Harris most likely would start next to Fred Robbins. 38. Chicago Bears- Max Jean-Giles OG Georgia Ruben Brown isn't getting any younger. 39. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Ernie Sims LB Florida State I'm not sold on Jeff Gooch starting in the NFL. Sims would be able to learn from one of the best in Derrick Brooks. 40. Washington Redskins- Darryl Tapp DE Virginia Tech Redskins need a serious upgrade pass rush from their defensive ends. Tapp jump in immediately and lead the defensive ends in sacks. 41. New Orleans Saints- Leonard Pope TE Georgia Boo Williams has been disappointing and Ernie Conwell is aging fast. 42. Oakland Raiders- Dusty Dvoracek DT Oklahoma The Raiders need a pass rush from the interior of the defensive line. 43. Detroit Lions- D’Qwell Jackson LB Maryland Earl Holmes won't be in Detroit much longer and he's on the decline. 44. St. Louis Rams- Eric Henderson DE Georgia Tech The Rams need an end opposite of Leonard Little who can rush the passer and play the run. Henderson can do both and fit the Rams defense well. 45. Green Bay Packers-Will Derting LB Washington State Derting can play outside linebacker and will challenge for the starting position opposite Na'il Diggs 46. Dallas Cowboys- Winston Justice OT USC Dallas gets a steal with Justice. He'll start right away at right tackle. 47. Houston Texans- Nate Salley S Ohio State Greg Earl is the starter at strong safety for the Texans. Enough said. 48. Denver Broncos- Greg Lee WR Pittsburgh Rod Smith and Jerry Rice both could be gone next year. The Broncos get younger with Lee. 49. Buffalo Bills- Manny Lawson DE North Carolina State The Bills need to generate more sacks from the defensive end position and Lawson will help solve the problem. 50. Seattle Seahawks- Spencer Havner OLB UCLA Seattle's linebackers are just plain bad. Havner is penciled in as the starter as soon as his name is called. 51. Arizona Cardinals- Le Kevin Smith DT Nebraska Cardinals need a run stuffer and find it in Smith. 52. Kansas City Chiefs- Davin Joseph OG/OT Oklahoma Joseph will provide flexibility to an aging offensive line. 53. New York Jets- Jeremy Trueblood OT Boston College Kareem McKenzie who? 54. Cincinnati Bengals- Joe Newton TE Oregon State The Bengals finally get a do-it-all tight end in the 6-7 Newton. 55. Jacksonville Jaguars- Gerald Riggs Jr. RB Tennessee Fred Taylor is injury prone and Riggs will eventually upseat Taylor and take his job 56. Atlanta Falcons- Greg Threat S Miami (FL) Keion Carpenter is not the answer at the strong safety position. 57. San Diego Chargers- Jarrett Hicks WR Texas Tech Keenan McCardell is aging and won't be around much longer. Reche Caldwell is more of a number two receiver. 58. Carolina Panthers- Charlie Whitehurst QB Clemson Jake Delhomme's eventual replacement. The Panthers need to get younger at the quarterback position. Stefan Lefors doesn't impress me as an NFL quarterback. 59. Minnesota Vikings- Justin Blalock OT Texas Solid run blocker will battle for the right tackle position if Mike Rosenthal faulters. 60. Pittsburgh Steelers- Manase Hopoi DE Washington Kimo Von Oelhoffen's replacement. 61. Indianapolis Colts- Alan Zemaitis CB Penn State Anything on defense for the Colts is a logical choice. 62. Baltimore Ravens- Greg Eslinger C Minnesota A steal at this point. Will eventually replace Mike Flynn who will be 32 next year. 63. Philadelphia Eagles- Zach Strief OT Northwestern Jon Runyan's backup and eventual replacement. 64. New England Patriots- Kelly Jennings CB Miami (FL) The Patriots could use depth behind Asante Samuel, Randal Gay, and Duane Starks. Round 3 65. San Francisco 49ers- Steve Smith WR USC 66. Cleveland Browns- Freddie Roach LB Alabama 67. Buffalo Bills (from Tennessee)- Mike Degory C Florida 68. Miami Dolphins- Chris Leak QB Florida 69. Ive never heard of Lee before but I am really happy witht he other three. Watkins in the 3rd is a steal. If we were going to go WR at 2, a better pick would have been Steve Smith or Avant, both of whom were still there.
