Del Rio also addressed what he termed the “Reggie Hayward watch.” Hayward was signed to an expensive free-agent contract last March and fans and media have grown concerned about Hayward's lack of statistical production in this preseason.
“I don't think it's fair or accurate to depict him as a guy who's had zero production because there has been production. There have not been sacks. We feel confident he's going to be exactly what we were looking for when we signed him,” Del Rio said. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since people are hammering the MoC experiement and the Brownco's, We might want to remember that to date, with the Jax on the hook for 10 million in signing bonus alone, Reggie hasn't had a tackle, assist, or sack, despite being next to two of the best DT's in the NFL.The 4 Brownco's and Engleberger count for only slightly more in sum than Hayward. |

Reggie will have a solid year, but that won't justify the 10 million dollar signing bonus. The Broncos did the right thing.

Still, even tho I had never been a Hayward fan, I expected pretty solid numbers. It's still early, but if that was happening here, we would be up in arms at this point. I also expect Hayward to get his share, but this slow start is rather amusing.

Whatever it was, our DLine has looked 100 times better than last year. And we still haven't seen Brown lined up with the first team. I'm sure we will be laughing all the way to the bank on this one. I can't wait to hear the media, esp Salsburger spinning their words around come week 4 or 5. |

The market bubble for high-priced mediocrity popped with Heyward...
I think we learned our lesson with Kavika Pittman... |

I was wondering what was going on with Hayward. I saw he didn't have any tackles and was wondering if he was hurt. I didn't exactly want to see him leave, but at the price other teams were willing to pay it seemed obvious that letting him go was the best thing to do. I really didn't understand the media saying how dumb it was to let him go. We got an awful lot for what Jville paid. I thought getting Ekubon was a wash with letting Hayward go. Getting Brown, Warren, Myers and Engleberger on top of that and they were questioning what the organization was doing

The Broncos made the right moves. If they had gave Hayward a big contract they wouldn't have these new D linemen. Who in their right mind would take Hayward over all the new linemen?

I don't understand this. Haywards cap hit comes in the first two years after that he pretty cheap. So he might not be worth the money he is set to make this year, but he still will get over 10 sacks.

The only real interest I have in Hayward now is what kind of comp pick the Broncos will get for him at next years draft.
